One will show at the edge of the swamp every so often, all the dogs up and down the road go bonkers and the bear moves on. That’s fine with me, as long as they stay shy. My SIL is a city boy, tends to stay inside after dark. My ex girlfriend from Atlantic City worried so much about gators that I never told her about bears. She saw a picture of a gator climbing a chain link fence and worried about gators breaking windows.

I back up to a large nature reserve. We have mountain lion, eagles, bear, coyote and other predators in the area. I ended up with a little dog and have to take him out when he has to go, otherwise something will eat him. The only thing that makes me nervous? The coyotes - they run in packs. Singly they dont bother me either, I just watch where I’m going and make noise. The grandkids dont play outside alone either, particularly after dark. Wouldnt trade where I live for anything, but I dont try to feed the critters. There are more than enough rabbits running around for that.

Gators can climb a chain link fence?????? oh my gosh.

I know they can run fast, much faster than I can, but for a short period of time.
I grew up swimming with gators in the lake, but no more!!
