A woman known as North Carolina's 'Bear Lady' may have been killed by a bear.
The remains of Kay Grayson, 67, were found in a well-known bear path just 100 yards from her isolated home in Tyrrell County on Monday.
Authorities could only find bones, hair and ripped clothing, which had likely been there for two weeks after she was reported missing.

Sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you.

“Did bears bite the hand that fed them?” = CHEAP SHOT!
The article goes on to say that she was forced to stop feeding the bears last year.

Bears only LOOK cute. Too bad she wasn’t packing a 44 Magnum....

People who keep wild animals as pets forget their natural behaviors are not altered by captivity.
And they can turn on you without warning. Was this Bear Lady eaten?
We’ll never know for sure. But her fate is a lesson on ignoring the fact bears are just bears.

As soon as dangerous critters no longer view humans as even more dangerous it’s dinner time. The super predators are hard to scare.

Sad story, but not at all unexpected. They call wild animals wild for a reason.

I have a friend who has been mauled twice in his life; worked many years as a guide. He has scars from his neck down to his ankles. I've been in bars and witnessed him taking his shirt off and dropping his pants to show everybody what a bear can easily do. Now this guy shoots every bear he sees, hates bear like nobody I've ever known.
I have a couple spring bear bait barrels & stands; if we don't kill 5-10 bear every Spring; they become problems around the house. Bear can sense when you ain't home, away for a few days shopping; that's when they break in.
Here along the Yukon, all bear are considered dangerous pests, to be shot on sight.

One will show at the edge of the swamp every so often, all the dogs up and down the road go bonkers and the bear moves on. That’s fine with me, as long as they stay shy. My SIL is a city boy, tends to stay inside after dark. My ex girlfriend from Atlantic City worried so much about gators that I never told her about bears. She saw a picture of a gator climbing a chain link fence and worried about gators breaking windows.
