Note to self...book vacation to New Orleans
On New Years, our routine in the French Quarter was to each have a fifth of Jim Beam with us as we hit the bars, we would tuck the neck into our belt and drink the Beam in between bar visits.
There is no such thing as a free country where you can’t have a cigarette with your coffee after your meal.
Our time will be known as the Age of Tyrants. And it will be well named.
More nanny state crap. Let the bars and restaurants make up their own minds on this issue. If a bar/restaurant decides to allow smoking, non smokers can go somewhere else.
I’m sure there would be enough tree hugging bar/restaurant owners to satisfy the non smokers.
I agree. There is no freedom in addiction.
“wants to protect the health of wait staff, bartenders, musicians ...”
Yeah, collecting unemployment is great for one’s health.
scumbags = BINGO!
Therefore, for your own good, we forbid you from smoking.
Yeah....lol...I stopped flying commercial when they banned smoking on airplanes...
I certainly don’t need to smoke when eating, but the bar ban has caused me to drink at home.
They won’t get my business and if they don’t miss it, I really don’t care. I only go to places and do things where I am comfortable. If I am not, I just don’t do that..
That’s one of the nice things about Detroit. It may be illegal to smoke in bars but most of the local bar owners ignore the law and the police don’t waste time enforcing it.
Another Landrieu destined for an abrupt finale to a political career.
Those folks in NOLA, IF they are like those I know don’t take kindly to anybody messin’ with their freedoms.
Agreed. This is all NAZI crap and the left is just eating it up.
The smoking ban killed many NJ bars; there were a few that ignored it, and I don’t think there were any consequences. As one barmaid said when I was stepping out one night to have a smoke (I didn’t want them to get a fine on my account): “The Board of Health works nine to five”. At that point I realized that they had ashtrays all along the bar...
I actually don’t have a problem with the ban in public places (including bars open to the public), but private clubs should have been exempt.
I don’t smoke or drink but I’m a guerrilla capitalist and love to see these behavior control laws flouted at every opportunity.
Quit cold turkey in March of ‘86.
It took a full five years to quit reaching for one in my shirt pocket...
Good, thank you. What is it about your addiction that makes you think other passengers wanted to suffer your second hand smoke?
Yeah....
I wish and hope that we can exhibit the same sort of resistance to the federal government at the State level.
I think it’s about that time to do it again...
If you look hard you can see signs of federalism returning as the result of Barry-O.
