Republican Mitt Romney is to give an update to his supporters on Friday on whether he should run for president a third time in 2016 amid signs he has yet to convince some financial backers as to why he should take the plunge again.
A former staffer, who asked to remain unidentified, said a conference call with Romney was expected to be held at mid-morning on Friday, and that he might give a signal as to which way he was leaning.
Romney for the past three weeks has been seeking traction for another presidential run after he was defeated by Democratic President Barack Obama in 2012.
On Wednesday, he visited Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi, and in a closely watched speech, he emphasized a commitment to tackle poverty in America, a correction from his 2012 candidacy when he was dragged down by his wealthy image.
Some of the people who raised money for Romney, seeing no dramatic change from 2012 as yet, are so far inclined to move on to other potential candidates like former Florida Governor Jeb Bush...

The world waits with bated breath.
'nuff said.
He has supporters?
If he runs, and he wins the nomination... well, I’ll just say this... I won’t be happy but I will not stay home on election day. So I guess that would make me a supporter, but only if in the long run!
Hi collection of special Mormon underwear?
There’s a whole cadre of them here on FR.
They’re the ones who are RINO or bust posters. If you see “lesser evil”, they’re a Romneybot.

Starting to look like the GOPE candidate is being chosen as we speak, doesn’t it?
Too bad conservatives can’t choose one before the primaries start.
I will. Trying to save this country becomes something like trying to save someone from drowning when that person keeps running back into deep water over and over again. At a certain point one says, to hell with it.
I've got to wonder if he mentioned that the best way to tackle poverty was a business friendly environment in which potential employers wanted to create jobs and that native and legal aliens got preference over illegal invaders. I doubt it.
While I supported and voted for him once, he had his shot and fell short. Time to move on.
Please, you voters in the early primaries, extinguish this tiny flame of hope that Mitt is desperately trying to fan into a fire. We do not want him.
Hey, Mitt! I have an idea! Why don’t you run for President of Kolob?
Rush covered this yesterday. Get a load of that thing the Washington Post has on their website where you can enter the square footage of your house, and it will overlay it against blueprints of Mitt Romney’s house to show you how much bigger his really is?
If Mitt is the nominee the media will gleefully join the Democrats in going full-throated Class Warfare on him. He’ll get squashed like a bug.
Bishop ROmneyCARE has incredible experience
as the Senator of Kolob.
In Massachusetts, the carpetbagger WRECKED the state.
“Gruber was originally Mitt’s man.”
so, you think that if Romney had been elected, the most important objective of his administration would have been to push thru Congress an Obamacare-like healthcare program instead of trying to rebuild the economy through job creation incentives?
FACT: In Massachusetts, the carpetbagger WRECKED the state.
NO, NO, NO, H NO NOT THIS RINO AGAIN!
NO, NO, NO, H NO ANOTHER RINO PRO AMNESTY IDIOT! STAY OUT OF POLITICS!
I won't stay home--I'll vote conservative downticket---but there's no way I'll ever cast another vote for Romney.
In 2012, despite a lot of prayer and a firm conviction that God was leading me to avoid supporting Mitt, I voted for him after Benghazi happened. I allowed fear to motivate me. As a result, I went through a years-long separation from God. The day after the election, I didn't feel Him there when I went to pray, and there was no one to blame but me.
Voting for a man who believes queers should be able to adopt children is not the right thing to do. We're fooling ourselves if we think it's right in any way, shape, or form.
