Many Tesla fans and electric-car drivers now know about the Model S P85D, Tesla's all-wheel-drive electric car that's arguably the fastest four-door sedan on the market.
What most of them likely don't know is just what the car's ultimate performance mode, called "Insane," actually feels like.
Now there's a video out from Drag Times that shows how astoundingly, jaw-dropping, amazingly, startlingly, incredibly insane the Insane mode actually is.

I'm well aware, except for the capacitors. Seems like a the technology could be used in an automotive application. My logic? I hate automatic transmission.

Good point. I will not argue that Tesla is a speculative equity play, that will not be profitable for a number of years. Is it a good investment? Not for me, but probably is fine for someone younger.
I do take exception to dumb asses who accuse me of being a liar when I in turn provide direct proof and quotes to the contrary.
No charge to Tesla owners (I guess no one else would have the correct interface cable anyway). The actual electricity cost would be tiny for one charge.
The only function of the caps would be to act as a "spring" between the engine and the motors. Much like the function of a starting capacitor on an AC electric motor.
I doubt the size and weight of the capacitors would need to be anywhere near as much as a bank of lead/acid or lithium batteries...nor the cost.
Plus if properly matched, I'm betting they would last a long time.

The cost may be zero to the user, but fully 100% of the energy cost is paid by someone, and I suspect that it is everyone who pays an electric utility bill. And many others, on top of that.
The SuperChargers are operated by Tesla Motors, so they pay the electricity costs, just like any commercial business.
So that’s who you should thank.
What you should NOT do is bullshit people by telling them that the charging stations are free. They aren’t. Thank you for admitting it.
Charging station use is included in the price of the vehicle.
So a Tesla Roadster owner could make $6000/yr just charging three times a day at the free charging station and then discharging his vehicle back into the grid at home.
It’s less than $10/hr but it’s easy work!

Formula race cars use capacitors/flywheels to give a little extra boost.
Easy there, buddy. Do you pull your hair out when you see a “buy one, get one free” ad or a cell phone ad for “free nights and weekends”? This is no different. Everyone understands that in order to use a free Tesla Supercharger you have to buy an un-free Tesla car.
