I agree. I’m no Bible expert, but if you look at the curses that God told Israel would befall them if they turned away from Him...well, those curses are pretty much happening to us now.
Only later in life (The army, the 60's) did I start to identify who and what I am and THAT was a longer process than what I care to admit to.

I do know what news sprung from a vanity is however.
We made the same mistake Israel made. In our pride, we forgot that it was God who set us up in safety and security, as a beacon to the world, and started believing that we did it on our own.
Well, when people do that, God lets them see exactly where they would be on their own.
I always thought it was one of those made-up words that they think always applies to any word ending in -ake
as in TAKE —> TOOK
When the proper term should be “Have Forsaken”
