Florida Sen. Marco Rubios apparent decision to speed up his entry into the growing field of 2016 Republican presidential primary challengers is coming at the perfect time, as a new poll out Friday shows him moving into second place behind repeat candidate Mitt Romney.
Whats more, the gap in the new Zogby Analytics poll is tiny, just three percentage points. And Rubio, the freshest hopeful to show a determined interest in the race, is also tied with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
The poll finds that women especially favor Rubio and also that he has a lot of room to gain with men, who typically vote in majorities with Republicans in the general election.
Romney does better among men (20%) than women (13%) and among self-identified Republicans (19%). Bush also does better among men (16%) than women (10%) and gets 14% support among self-identified Republicans (14%). But Rubio is receiving 22% support among women to only 4% of men and does equally well (16% each) among both self-identified Republicans and conservatives.
Rubio getting a majority of the Hispanic vote would be the only thing that could get the democrats interested in border security.
Who is being polled, Democrats?
Please cite ONE single instance of racism here on Free Republic. You can't and you won't because -- aside from false flag operations from paid leftist trolls -- there has never been one. As Conservatives, FReepers are color blind and measure each individual by the extent of his pro-God, pro-family, pro-gun, anti-sodomy and anti-illegals positions. Neither race nor ethnicity factors into the judgments of character here on the world's leading website for news and informed opinions.
As proof, I offer the recent thread mourning the death of Ernie Banks (Mr. Cub). Even though Banks was a black man, you'll see nothing but praise for him on that thread. He's referred to as a "class act" by many in that thread. And need I remind you that Herman Cain was a favorite of many FReepers during the 2012 primaries.
Because liberals are zotted by the boss and because liberals are racist, the only taint of racism on FR comes from liberals seeking to damage the sterling reputation of this site.
Did you two forget sarcasm tags?
Cruz is loved here, he's hispanic. Kindly retract your stupid statement.
And yes, it WAS stupid!
“If he is RINO so was Ronald Reagan as he granted amnesty to illegals.”
BUZZ... Congress passed that amnesty buddy, Reagan just signed it.
Besides, we have the failures of that amnesty to educate us, so Rubio had no excuse for falling into the same trap again, but he did, so he’s a RINO.
How would Cruz’ positions differ if he did not “reject his Spanish roots”?
“hes not in favor of illegal immigration”
Then why does he continue to push amnesty that benefits illegal immigrants and encourages more illegal immigration? Quite a mystery.
I thought the ‘86 amnesty was a dumb idea back then, and I was furious about it. Mark Levin says that Reagan was regretful about having signed it. But, as you state, what is anyone’s excuse for supporting more amnesty TODAY? Bob
“People on FR dont like him because hes Hispanic...”
Oh, we’re a bunch of anti-hispanic racists I guess.
No wonder everyone on FR loathes Ted Cruz too. /sarc
#3 in name recognition maybe.
Cruz is #1 with those who actually already know who all the candidates are.
two years out and we’re already having surges.
Warren Gamaliel Harding
John Fitzgerald Kennedy
Barack Hussein Obama.
What on Earth makes you say Marco Rubio “would be a great President”?
Has he ever run a lemonade stand?
Have we ever elected an affirmative action first-term Senator who gives good speeches?
Oh wait...
Yes, racism so blatant that only two FReepers were sensitive and erudite to detect it. All hail Din Maker and livius, detectors of racism.
What is more likely? That racism at FR is so subtle and ingrained that only two super-FReepers could detect it, or that two FReepers are invested in trying to feed their need to feel like the smartest people in the room?
Very well said and I concur 100% with your analysis. Yes, there have been episodic events of racism here on Free Republic. But in every single case -- without exception -- they have been traced back to liberal infiltrators who have quickly been ushered out of this forum. Noteworthy was the summer 2009 thread when hussein (at taxpayer expense) took his "family" to France. Leftists sullied the reputation of Free Republic with remarks similar to those of the DemonRAT organization, the Ku Klux Klan. That thread was quickly pulled by the fast-acting moderators once it became apparent that an organized astroturf campaign was underway in an attempt to sully the good name of Free Republic.
And of course, the boss sees to it that every poster must adhere to his clearly stated policy and unambiguous words:
NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts.
“What I should have said is that people on FR are anti-Catholic.”
So that is why the majority of the posts to the religion forum are Catholic-oriented?
I want a Freeper poll, I don’t trust these guys.
Rubio was and is a big Amnesty guy. Its not like we don’t have a real 11% unemployment rate if you count those who they no longer count those who can’t get a job and used up their benefits.
With many more getting only part time work and counting 2 part time jobs as 2 full time jobs, why do we need 11 million more uneducated immigrants?
Getting butthurt over contentious debates in the RF or over folks expressing their disdain for hispanics being the largest by percentages, perpetrators of ILLEGAL immigration is one thing.
But to go around and accuse FReepers in general of being racist and anti-Catholic because of that butthurt is another thing altogether.
Obama did pretty well for the left.
