With Republicans in Congress split over the best approach to Obama's executive amnesty - and with many establishment Republicans splitting form grassroots Republicans on the issue of illegal immigration more generally - it's clear that immigration will be a hot-button primary issue in 2016. ...
So where do the potential candidates stand? Here's a rundown:

Bill Cunningham said on his Saturday night show, no Republican has won the presidential election without Ohio. Then he pointed out Kasich won Ohio by 31% when he ran for Governor.
I know little about him. We certainly don’t need another Democrat President.
Excellent ideals all, and they should be standard for Republicans (or at least conservatives). I’d add the following....
Abolish Ted Kennedy’s absurd Diversity Lottery Visas
Severely restrict the number of refugees and asylum seekers we admit
Just as importantly, what is their position on legal immigration?
Sadly, there is no good news on that front. Even Cruz supports mass legal immigration.
None of them get my primary vote.
Cruz is the best candidates.
Kasich is certainly an effective and popular governor.
Not sure if he is telegenic, and if he has charisma.
Cruz is certainly one of the most consistently conservative candidates. However MSM always refers to him as extreme. And 95% of voters get their information from MSM, not FR. That is my worry about Cruz.
And the left wing here in Ohio is beside itself in anger...LOL
Warms my heart.
I see your rules and raise a few more:
1) Terminate any/all immigration for a period of 40 yrs. (we must make everyone assimilate. Same as the great migration of the 1900’s)
2) Any/all ‘employers’ are to be fined $5M per infraction (pegged to inflation). Any infraction involves an elected official, LEO, etc., they lose any/all taxpayer benefits and are removed from office. Make it HURT
3) Open a $10/head bounty. Like crime stoppers, only better :)
4) Re-institute chain-gangs for those caught. Hard labor will discourage re-entry attempts.
” Illegals have ruined mexifornia- Im escaping in exactly 5 days and anyone who doesnt think this issue will destroy this country ought to visit the invaded states, better yet live there and suffer the consequences of the invasion.”
Americans don’t know the truth. If every American spent 2 days in California, they would want to lynch Congress!
Because illegal immigration amnesty has a real potential to destroy the country I consider it a deal breaker.
I will not EVER vote for ANYONE who favors amnesty.
Bush, Walker, Romney, Christie, Huckabee & Carson: each supports comprehensive immigration reform.
Its disappointing to see Carson there and even more to see Scott Walker there, since he is a fighter with a true record of accomplihment. But Amnesty could easily destroy the country and the democratic process (it already has in part- look at all the pols saying vote for me and I’ll allow you to break the law, nearly all of them.)
Here’s hoping Ted Cruz can run and have the right position on Amnesty. Cause I can not vote for anyone who favors it.
Guess I’m voting for Cruz, no matter who is running.
I am so sick of all the liberals in republican clothing.
“Americans dont know the truth. If every American spent 2 days in California, they would want to lynch Congress!”
Now that we’re escaping, most people I talk to about it tell us they wish they could escape too, or have plans to leave eventually. The liberals and the invasion they orchestrated are driving out the citizens. And the state is bankrupt and doesn’t even care if the taxpayers leave en mass. I feel sorry for the few conservatives left here.
” . I feel sorry for the few conservatives left here.”
So do I. I left California in 2006, after having lived there 30 years.
But I'll save MY vote for anyone who breaks from the pack and announces THEY will adopt and Enforcement and Self-Deportation position.
And my money.
You are deluded and deceived.
Cruz would amnesty every illegal here today except "criminals".
He just would not give them citizenship.
In the meantime, though, none of them are publicly and persistently demanding that our current immigration laws should be vigorously enforced.
And, none of them are publicly and persistently demanding that the old Border Fence legislation (2009) should be funded and built.
And, none of them publicly and persistently speak out on the equally serious issue of massive LEGAL immigration.
Every year, we create 750,000 new immigrant citizens, and 80% of them vote for the Democrat Party.
Every year, we issue more than a million Green Cards, and those folks have crushed the wage scale for American-born low skill labor.
Every year, we issue or renew 750,000 “high tech” work visas to foreigners who directly compete against older American workers, and who have caused software engineering wages in America to stagnate for 15 years.
Sorry - on immigration, ObamaCare, and spending issues, I no longer trust the GOP leadership to tell the truth about ANYTHING!
