BALTIMORE (WJZ) A health warning. The extremely contagious measles virus is back. An outbreak that started at Disneyland is starting to sweep the country.
Christie Ileto has the push for children to get vaccinated.
Measles was thought to have been eliminated in the U.S. 15 years ago. Now its back, targeting those who havent been immunized.
The outbreak that started in Californias Disneyland is expanding. At least 75 cases of measles span six states.
Its scary to think the happiest place on Earth is infected with measles, one Disney employee said.
For this Disney employee, knowing co-workers are infected is cause for concern.
Measles has a 21-day incubation period, meaning people can travel far before they know theyre sick.
Were seeing the resurgence of measles because a lot of the parents are not getting their children vaccinated, said Dr. Peter Andrews, Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Andrews says that problem is prime. In Maryland, all students K-12 must get two shots of the measles vaccine.
It just didnt make sense to me, said one Annapolis mom.
In a revealing interview with WJZ, an Annapolis mom explained why she didnt vaccinate her kids.
I didnt understand why a little human had to get so many drugs at one time, she said.
Still, the vaccine proves very effective if given at two doses.
Doctors say the virus is highly contagious. For instance, if someone has the measles and doesnt cover their mouth when they sneeze, they can pass it on to anyone standing nearby.
Symptoms like fever, cough and rash soon follow.
The younger, the older, the immune compromised. Those are the three target areas that really can get sick and die, said Dr. Andrews.
Most people who have already had the measles or got the vaccine are not at risk.
It’s not BS. None of our citizens would have contracted measles here if people were vaccinated. This is what people have been warning the non-vaccination crowd.
Well, enjoy...
“Uhhmm thousands came not from Mexico, but other regions through Mexico on train.”
And they go to Disneyland?
All of Central America have vaccination rates above 89%.
It is BS because they refuse to address the elephant in the room...illegals.
Have they said that these infected are all citizens? I haven’t seen any demographics listed and although I’m sure some of the infected are citizen anti-vaxxers, I’d wager that not all are citizens...
Again, who brought the damned disease into the country? Used to be one couldn’t enter without having current vaccinations.
Now? Who gives a damn...
All well and good, but since it wasn’t here, it had to come from somewhere. I don’t know if it came from Central or South America or not.
I suspect you don’t either.
I’m just glad to see it’s not a weapons of mass destruction incident.
There is no evidence that this Measles outbreak came from Mexico.
Instead, it is likely they it’s origins are with dumb Americans who did not vaccinate their kids.
Once again, we can’t control the rest of the world. We could control our borders, but our leaders have sold us out. So it is up to us to protect ourselves.
I protected my kids.
Some people don’t think that was wise. LOL
Well, here we are. Enjoy.
The only thing B.S. about this, is the people who elect not to protect their own and then blame it on others. What a hoot.
Interesting observation, since a “release” of some sort at a place where masses of people collect, is the exact profile for such an attack.
This is the fault of Americans who did not vaccinate their kids.
“All of Central America have vaccination rates above 89%”, AND YOU BELIEVE statistics from 3rd world SHITHOLE “Nations”? Are you gullible/naïve in OTHER WAYS TOO?!
“And they go to Disneyland?”
Bingo!
This is from research data provided by the World Bank, which I suspect is more accurate than assumptions by non-medical, non-scientific professionals on the internet.

As reported by whom?
Source? Can’t find anything to confirm your statistical claim.
And assuming for a moment that it is accurate, the other 11% are how many 100s of thousands of people? And of that, how many are illegals coming into the USA?
It’s not just Mexico. But generally, since by the very nature of illegal immigration, they don’t have any assurance they’re vaccinated. Many coming here are poor and less likely to be.
This is a game of probability. Thousands of contacts a day, all it needs is the right confluence. And measles won’t arise from nowhere.
I doubt that the penniless kids that ride on top of trains from Central America have the $96.00 to pay for admission to Disneyland
YOU are a Full-Fledged SAP(The “World Bank” B!TCH PLEASE)!

Vaccinate your kids and it won’t be a problem.
Maybe the kids are down below powering the rides?
Seriously, thank you for being the voice of reason — it can be dangerous sometimes!
What statistics would you propose we use?
Measles still needs a source. It won’t arise from nowhere. You need a carrier. If there’s no paper trail to connect the source it probably moved “in the shadows”.
