They'll play the same game with this one. Appease the rabble, then get what they really want passed.
“some republicans”?
I’d like to know, specifically, which republicans are calling it that.
Why do we need another border-based law? We already have many that encompass thousands of pages and millions of words.
How about we enforce those?
"Harsh" penalties?
Like what? A letter of reprimand in every employee's file?
so soon. ah well, that break for us between the GOP taking over and the dems losing didn’t last long. time to get on the phones again.
” Just a historical reminder, the Secure Fence Act was signed into law in 2006, and was then subsequently defunded and gutted. “
BUMP the truth, and IIRC, it called for 700 miles of double fencing.
NOW, the GOPe wants to
knock down 66 miles of fence
build 27 miles of fence (instead of 700 miles)
10 billion to bet on horses (might as well be)
These people are all liars, tearing down the border fences that exist is not tough
This is the start of the long betrayal. That’s all piecemeal is.
“said Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla. ‘I dont think doing border security and stopping would be the appropriate thing to do when we know there are other areas where we can get some things done.’”
Cole is telegraphing the Chamber of Commerce/Suckerberg plan—pass a “tough” border enforcement bill (which will not be enforced) as a fig leaf. But you can’t stop there. After all, we’ve got to fix our “broken” immigration system by importing even more masses of cheap labor in order to displace American workers who want too much in salaries/wages. And, of course, amnesty for the illegals so we can “bring them out of the shadows.”
Sadly, you are right.
