Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt on Thursday predicted the end of the Internet as we know it.
At the end of a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland where his comments were webcast, he was asked for his prediction on the future of the Web. I will answer very simply that the Internet will disappear, Schmidt said.

I always go under the rule of thumb that we tend to greatly overestimate what will be done in the short run, and greatly underestimate what will be done in the long run. I don’t think the interesting future he describes will occur for decades, but when it does, it will far exceed our current expectations. The short run will be dominated by less impressive, but in many ways more important, changes to the foundation level of computing.
