'More than a thousand mourners attended the funeral of an RAF veteran who died without any family or friends.
Keith Ingham Nutbrown, 83, passed away at Treflys care home in Llandudno, North Wales recently and it was expected that nobody would attend his funeral.
But crowds of well-wishers descended on Chester Crematorium today to pay their respects at the service. Servicemen and ex-servicemen lined the entrance to the crematorium while members of the RAF performed a fly-past before the service started.
So many people turned up at the funeral that some were forced to listen to the service from outside.
Laurie Black, 77, who attended the short service, where Mr Ingham Nutbrown was given a full military guard of honour, said the RAF veteran was given a 'heroic send off'.'

Great post.
As much as the UK seems ‘done’, or as much as this Brit moans about it, its still a good country with good people. Stories like this do restore my faith.
Just more proof that “growin’ old ain’t for sissies”.Good to see that people of the area (and elsewhere?) attended.A military veteran deserves nothing less.
” its still a good country with good people.”
Yes it is.
It is too bad that those folks didn’t show up to visit him while he was alive.
I think it was wonderful that some many showed up to his funeral, but I’m sure he would have enjoyed a chat now and then.
I think a lot of countries are like the United States, many good people with too many bad leaders.
>>I think it was wonderful that some many showed up to his funeral, but Im sure he would have enjoyed a chat now and then.<<
Maybe not. He could have been one of those “leave me alone” guys.
Article sez “no fan no friends” so I feel the same, did anyone stop in while he was alive to just say hi,you matter and if not why not?
Evidence that he did have friends and family.
Went to the website to watch the video. Had to sit through a insufferable Katy Perry cosmetic commercial. It somehow put the funeral video in perspective.
Exactly right
A little pomp and ceremony is good for the spirit. It displays fortitude and sense of mission that most of the population don't get.
The leftists have been slowly purging any military presence here in the Bay Area for decades, from base closures to eliminating any martial aspects to parades, sporting events, even minimizing fleet week.
I envy countries who still value the ceremony & shows of strength you referred to.
The RCMP always look fantastic in their dress uniforms.I wish our police would take the time and effort to look that good.
Wonderful...they remember.
We have a snap of my dad with his RAF buddy at Christchurch, taken before D Day.
Two happy kids ...then dad said the friend didn’t make it. (With tears).
I hope that the US sent somebody.
James Taylor?
While that’s great, it would have been nice for some of them to show up while this guy was living. He sounds like he could have used a friend.
Me “mum” was a Brit, born in 1921 in Lancashire. Stories like this make me even prouder of my heritage. R.I.P. good sir.
I agree.
