This is the cause of so many of our problems. In Texas it is a defense to prosecution if lethal force was used to protect property at night. In Texas you might get away with such a shooting but it would be a hard sell just about anywhere else. Imagine being pulled before a jury for killing a “kid” for a non-violent property crime or “prank”? They would crucify you especially if it was a minority. Look at all the trouble over killing the attempted cop killer, thug and robber Mike Brown.
