“This is the cause of so many of our problems. In Texas it is a defense to prosecution if lethal force was used to protect property at night. Even with that clearly written in law I still believe your statement is applicable. When did we as a society go so wrong as to persecute a man for killing those that need killing?”
In Texas you might get away with such a shooting but it would be a hard sell just about anywhere else. Imagine being pulled before a jury for killing a “kid” for a non-violent property crime or “prank”? They would crucify you especially if it was a minority. Look at all the trouble over killing the attempted cop killer, thug and robber Mike Brown.
So backing down will make it go away. Sure thing . . .
In the state of Washington you can use deadly force to stop a felony against you or anyone else. Vandalism causing damages more than $750 is a felony.
But agreed, while legaly one could shoot some punk doing a bunch of damage to your vehicle (or your neighbors), it is probably not the wisest route to go.
