Try taking that Tesla on a cross-country trip and then we see which of the two is practical. The BMW i8, which is both gasoline and battery powered, is my choice.

I’d like to see that race done over a few times. The Dodge had a god-awful start—it was backing up and repositioning when the Tesla took off. Still, very impressive.

The ‘driver’ of that particular muscle car “can’t”..
Anyone that ever played with RC cars knows what awesome potential electric has for power. Practicality is another issue.

First off, it was a horrible start, or should I say, flase start. Second, when Tesla starts mass producing cars at prices most people can afford — without a government subsidy — then we can talk.

My diesel has a range of about 750 miles on a full “charge” and can be “recharged” in about 4 minutes at any one of about 30,000 “recharging stations” nationwide.
I couldn't care less about 0-60.At a steady 75mph it doesn't miss a beat.

Challenger driver tried to punch it at the line and just sat there smoking the tires. He also jumped too soon. Not a very good run.

Oh yeah, let’s see the Tesla do that with a 3 phase motor...

The Cuda stalled, then ran an 82 MPH quarter mile.
Would have like to see a real race, but 11.x seconds for a production car is real good, no matter the power source.
Are they running 1000 feet or 1320 feet tracks these days?

Sort of a non-test.
Rule Number One in drag racing: Once you hit the accelerator, do not let off and hit the brakes. If you jump the gun then they'll redo the heat or disqualify you.
I wonder if the Challenger just died or if it wad driver error?

They had to put a battery charger on the Tesla to get it back to the garage area after the race....

Only 82mph in the quarter? If you sunk the price difference between the two into the mopar you would be hitting close to 200 mph. I have a hard time believing the driver couldn’t do better with that much hp. My near stock diesel ram does better than that.

I understand the 4 cylinder Ford Mustang of today absolutely blows away a 2005 Ford Mustang GT with the V8.
All with better gas mileage.
Trouble is - an eco-boost engine does not have that throaty V8 growl. So they synthesized it in to the exhaust noise.
