Hezbollah supporters turned out in force on Monday to bury the son of the group's late commander, one of six fighters who died in an Israeli air strike in neighboring Syria that also killed an Iranian general.
The killings raised the possibility of a retaliatory attack, with a senior Iranian official suggesting that Israel would be hit at "the right time and right place". An Israeli defense official said escalation was possible.
Jihad Mughniyeh was buried in Beirut alongside his father Imad Mughniyeh, who was assassinated in Damascus in 2008.
Though it was unclear what role Mughniyeh, who was in his mid-20s, played in Hezbollah, his death represented a symbolic blow to the Shi'ite Islamist group that his father helped to found with Iranian backing in the early 1980s.
It was the biggest Hezbollah funeral since Imad Mughniyeh's own burial, underscoring Jihad's significance to the movement.
Thousands of mourners chanted "Death to Israel" and "Death to America" as Mughniyeh's coffin, draped in Hezbollah's yellow flag, was carried through the streets of Beirut's southern suburbs, an area controlled by the group. [...]

Rogan and Fat Mikey must be heartbroken.
Yeah, target-rich enviroment..
Yeah, that procession would have made a great place to test napalm, cluster bombs, fuel/air devices and maybe even a small nuke. Oh, well, yet another missed opportunity!
Darn!
At first glance I thought it said “thousands more killed”.
Because his parents were bloodthirsty savages.
sort of like a “ghetto” couple naming their kid THUG BOY!!
Looks like peace won’t be coming to the middle east any time soon - until the bearded ones become civilized.
I should think his name made it pretty clear. Jihad.

It’s all so confused over there. Were the Hezbollah fighters in the battle against ISIS? If they were, or if the Israelis killed civilizns, I’d think this makes the mess even messier.
“The killings raised the possibility of a retaliatory attack, with a senior Iranian official suggesting that Israel would be hit at “the right time and right place”...”
Are you sure about this? God, I’m just speechless at how good journalists are these days.
One of the most common names in Palestine for boys...besides Mo-Ham-Head...
Just think of the thousands of goats left without companionship for that day...
Should have nuked those so-called mourners, would have been a win/win
Instead of bombing today’s big Hezbollah funeral, Israel’s intelligence agencies are most likely using it to gather more information for its dossiers on still-living high Hezbollah officials so that they can be targeted in the future.
Meanwhile, the international media which was mourning last week with the French victims of Islamic terrorism — ‘’Je suis Charlie’’ — now seem to be mourning with the terrorists of Hezbollah as they cover its funeral.
If the civilized world were truly serious about the threat of Islamic terrorism and the need to destroy it, people everywhere would be replacing their ‘’Je suis Charlie’’ signs with those saying ‘’Mazel Tov, Israel.’’
But of course that’s not happening. Instead, Israel is left to save the world from Islamic terrorism alone — while at the same time world leaders like Obama and the Prime Minister of Britain are working hand in hand to help Iran — Hezbollah’s sponsor — by lobbying our Congress not to reimpose Iranian sanctions.
