They would most assuredly protest but would not gun down the news staff ...

If CH were published in the U.S. it would get a tax free grant from the NEA for its depictions of Christ and the pope, and then 2 years later be boycotted into nonexistence by the PC crowd for offending Allah...

Nope. They wouldn’t.

They’d roll over and take it, like they have every other insult, infringement, and outrage against the Faith.

Can’t endanger the tax-free status now, can we...

Mammon is proud these days; no “Black Robe Regiments” to worry about anymore.

“It would be a real, real problem for a lot of grassroots evangelicals out there, particularly with respect to the sense of attack on them personally,” said Steele

This makes me believe that Steele doesn’t know any “grassroots evangelicals”. There are progressives, atheists, postmodernists out there every single day in America mocking Jesus and mocking Christianity, on far greater platforms than a low circulation magazine.

Flip on Nova on PBS. Mockery of Christianity.
Flip on Bill Maher on HBO. Mockery of Christianity.
Read an article in Newsweek or Time. Mockery of Christianity.
Browse to a few videos on youtube and look at the comment section. Mockery of Christianity.

I don’t see any Evangelicals “flipping out” over any of that. What I do see is them saying “well, I’ll never watch/read/buy that again”, and then proceeding on with their lives.

I'm not offended at all.

That's merely the price we pay for freedom of speech.

If free speech isn't absolutely free and free for all, someone will have to arbitrate what can and cannot be said...and that is when this freedom will cease to exist.

He’s pretty stupid. Charlie published many evil blasphemous cartoons that mocked Christianity and no one went postal on them.

the logic of free speech is Charlie Hebdo can mock and object to Christians or Muslims and Christians or Muslims can mock and object to Charlie Hebdo ...

What neither side can do is kill the other....

to make a moral equivalency between Christians vs Charles Hebdo confrontation to the Muslims attack.....

is equal to drawing a moral equivalency between Charles Hebdo attack on Muslims being equal to Muslims attack on Charles Hebdo.

I main object to what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it

is not

I may have object to your what you say and I'll put you to death for you saying it

Far be it from me to engage in a battle of wits with Michael Steele, but as I understand it, Charlie Hebdo does mock Christianity and Judaism regularly. And you hardly ever see French Christians or Jews storming the offices of Charlie Hedbo and killing innocent secretaries and security officers.

Hebdo's portrayal of French Justice Minister Christiane Taubira, who is of Guianese origin:

Let's see Michael Steele put that poster up in his office window in Ferguson, Mo....see how long the office building lasts.

Come on!! Christianity, the people and faith, are hit on constantly by the art community, universities, government and more. How do they respond? Silence!! In our church we pray each Sunday for persecuted Christians around the world. Visitors tell us they have never heard that in other churches. Today’s Christians are afraid to defend the faith and that is very unChrist like.

The New Yorker magazine has also pointed out that Hebdo cartoonists have portrayed Obama as Little Black Sambo.

Of course that image can’t be found on Google, because Google doesn’t believe in that kind of free speech.

But does anyone really have to wonder why Sambo (using Hebdo’s term, because Je Suis Charlie, of course) didn’t send anyone to France for the great group hug?

Our swarthy little Despot-in-Chief is not going to let an insult like that get past him.

Hell, he would allow Paris to fall to ISIS, just for paybacks.

Yes but we wouldn’t butcher the way Islam does. We know God will handle it in his own way.

Michael Steele is a Roman Catholic, a denomination that voted for Obama twice, while Evangelicals were voting 78 and 79% republican.

Why he chose Evangelicals to attack is a mystery, but Senator Cruz and Governor Palin are Evangelicals.

So what? It's called freedom of speech - the very thing Hebdo was supposedly defending (according to the leftists). So, it must mean that freedom of speech is only allowed for atheists, like those a Hebdo.

And I feel like a lot of evangelicals, particularly in this country, would raise up mightily, and make a lot of noise. Now, obviously not to extremes, but there would be a lot of protests against a publication like that.”

They would "rise up", probably. They might even demonstrate with a few signs and letters to the editor.

But would they send in teams of trained killers to murder the cartoonists in cold blood while screaming "Allahu Akhbar!" and threatening worldwide murder on more blasphemers.

There is a difference here. A big difference.

Good grief, I used to like the fella. But we need a fundraiser to buy a roll of duct tape for the man.

He’s become an embarrassment.

Mr. Steele: please, give us your prediction: how many people would these imaginary evangelical Christians murder in response to the cartoon, as the Muslims murdered in response to Charlie Hebdo?

How many?

Not ONE American Christian has murdered anyone in response to a cartoon. NOT ONE.
