Evangelical Christian Republicans would have a serious problem with Charlie Hebdo were it to mock Christians in America, says former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele.
It would be a real, real problem for a lot of grassroots evangelicals out there, particularly with respect to the sense of attack on them personally, said Steele, appearing on NBCs Meet the Press on Sunday.
Its a real balancing act, he continued, between . . . that feeling of expression and wanting to be free to do that, and then the personal feeling I have when you express yourself, and I feel like youve attacked me. And I feel like a lot of evangelicals, particularly in this country, would raise up mightily, and make a lot of noise. Now, obviously not to extremes, but there would be a lot of protests against a publication like that.

Heh, heh. We’ll go with that.
What neither side can do is kill the other....
to make a moral equivalency between Christians vs Charles Hebdo confrontation to the Muslims attack.....
is equal to drawing a moral equivalency between Charles Hebdo attack on Muslims being equal to Muslims attack on Charles Hebdo.
I main object to what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it
is not
I may have object to your what you say and I'll put you to death for you saying it
Far be it from me to engage in a battle of wits with Michael Steele, but as I understand it, Charlie Hebdo does mock Christianity and Judaism regularly. And you hardly ever see French Christians or Jews storming the offices of Charlie Hedbo and killing innocent secretaries and security officers.
Yeah, and it doesn’t seem to matter what the topic is, Steele is willing to blame his own party members and apologize for them, even, as we see here, preemptively! I am pretty sure that is just his current job description.
We’ve all heard of the concept of “Jewish self-loathing”. Well, I think Steele has a case of “Republican self-loathing”.
Let's see Michael Steele put that poster up in his office window in Ferguson, Mo....see how long the office building lasts.
Yup. Christians in this country have been mocked for at least the last couple decades.
They would indeed rise up. How many staff would they murder?
Come on!! Christianity, the people and faith, are hit on constantly by the art community, universities, government and more. How do they respond? Silence!! In our church we pray each Sunday for persecuted Christians around the world. Visitors tell us they have never heard that in other churches. Today’s Christians are afraid to defend the faith and that is very unChrist like.

The New Yorker magazine has also pointed out that Hebdo cartoonists have portrayed Obama as Little Black Sambo.
Of course that image can’t be found on Google, because Google doesn’t believe in that kind of free speech.
But does anyone really have to wonder why Sambo (using Hebdo’s term, because Je Suis Charlie, of course) didn’t send anyone to France for the great group hug?
Our swarthy little Despot-in-Chief is not going to let an insult like that get past him.
Hell, he would allow Paris to fall to ISIS, just for paybacks.
Yes but we wouldn’t butcher the way Islam does. We know God will handle it in his own way.
Michael Steele: Honorary Chairman of the Colin Powell Caucus of liberal democrats pretending to be Republicans. What a jack@ss he turned out to be.
RE: Yes but we wouldnt butcher the way Islam does.
There would be no butchering at all. PERIOD. FULL STOP.
Christianity is mocked all the time on TV and in movies, nobody has burned down Hollyweird yet
Michael Steele is a Roman Catholic, a denomination that voted for Obama twice, while Evangelicals were voting 78 and 79% republican.
Why he chose Evangelicals to attack is a mystery, but Senator Cruz and Governor Palin are Evangelicals.

But would they send in teams of trained killers to murder the cartoonists in cold blood while screaming "Allahu Akhbar!" and threatening worldwide murder on more blasphemers.
There is a difference here. A big difference.
Good grief, I used to like the fella. But we need a fundraiser to buy a roll of duct tape for the man.
He’s become an embarrassment.
Good post
How many?
Not ONE American Christian has murdered anyone in response to a cartoon. NOT ONE.
