If Green Bay had not collapsed in the last five minutes of the game there would have been no overtime and no TD pass to catch. I have documented in excruciating detail exactly all of the dreary details, please read it, and then come back and tell me what I’ve said that’s not true.
Thanks for the delightful Grantland Rice quote——I remember him .
.
Champions find ways to win games. Seattle found a way.
It’s a comeback when you’re playing a team that’s actually trying to prevent you from scoring. When you’re playing a team that’s trying not to lose and can’t catch an onsides kick, it’s mostly nothing but letting the other team lose.
Right.
One of the luckiest quarterbacks to ever play the game!
I’m glad an illustrious football mind such as yourself chooses to agree with me.
I hope so.
Good game...
Luke 16:26
And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they who would pass from here to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from there.
The guys on the radio are saying that after that last GB interception (5 mins left?), the ESPN odds were that GB would win the game was at 96%.
It was an ugly game by Seattle. Until the end. When it mattered.
Interesting when Green Bay intercepted with 5 minutes to go all the first bumping, high fiving, etc reminded of something I first learned at the high school level of sports.
"Don't get busy pattin' yourself on the back too soon because minutes later you might be picking your a$$ up off the floor."
I believe that's what we witnessed.
Demoralizing loss for the Cowboys last week, for the Packers this week. As a Vikings fan, that was the best I could hope for in the playoffs this year. I hope all of their fans enjoy the small taste of what it’s like in my world.
The L.A. Rams were infamous for the “Prevent D”....Totally the wrong approach.....IMO.
I had just sent a text to a friend we were going to the Super Bowl. He sent a text back saying not so fast.
That was a tough one for sure.
Precisely!
Who's bright idea was it to think that idiocy up?
"OK guys, we've got the Bills down by FOUR touchdowns at halftime, due to our great play. What do you say we go prevent defense, so that they can't come back?"
But coach, didn't our current strategy work for 30 minutes? Why would we change ANYTHING?
"Shut up and play prevent defense. This is the Oilers game plan. Love it or leave it. What could POSSIBLY go wrong?"
Packers lacked the fundamental killer instinct of a champion. The interception with 5 minutes to go. . .the guy doesn’t even attempt to advance the ball. . .he just slides to the turf, like the game was over. . .NUTS!!!
Add baseball and basketball to the top of the list.
Yea about as exciting as watching a mud puddle dry up!!!
My daughter went to last weeks game and was horse. She said it was insane - they basically stood and screamed the entire time.
How about recovering the on-side kick? When everyone in the world knew it was coming?! How about putting some more points on the board in the second half? Instead of sitting on the lead... How about the 'D' just generally disappearing the last five minutes of the game? How about giving up a TD on a fake field goal attempt? Ugh....
