The electrifying $90.2 million wide opening of American Sniper shattering records for the best January openings by tens of millions of dollars stunned box office analysts and even distributor Warner Bros. Sunday.
Weve never seen anything like this, Dan Fellman, head of domestic distribution at Warner Bros. told TheWrap.
The Clint Eastwood-directed Iraq War saga starring Bradley Cooper was on pace to top $100 million over the four-day Martin Luther King holiday weekend, uncharted territory for a movie at this time of year. It was an explosive and historic start for Village Roadshows R-rated American Sniper, which was adapted by Jason Hall from the late U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyles autobiography.

I took my 11 year old son and we thought it was awesome. Tears filled my eyes a few times during the movie. I did two Iraq tours but it was nothing like what those SEALs and Marines went through in Falluja and Ramadi. They were extremely brave. I agree that it was the best war movie ever. It was an Eastwood masterpiece and I’m happy to see the liberals freaking out about it.
We just got back. I pretty much cried through the whole thing. My son got back from Afghanistan in November, and some of it was REALLY hard to watch. But it was really well done. God bless Taya and the kids.
I’m bookmarking the page so I can scroll through for the future thread. You’re on the list.
Just from the little parts that are shown in the previews, you can tell that it is well done. Can't wait to see it.
That being said, if I were an Iraqi of any stripe, guilty or innocent, I would find life unbearable with guys like Kyle on the rooftops. Imagine the agony of fear invoked by the DC snipers but with the Army, Air Force and Marines behind them.
I suppose that kind of imposition would be justified during a siege in a place like Fallujah or Sadr City.
I hope his wife is getting a big piece of this do she can pay off that nauseating vampire Ventura.
God bless you and your son. Many thanks for his service.
One of the reasons to see it at the theater is to SUPPORT IT -
Every ticket bought is a spit in the eye of our ‘enemies domestic” It’s a STATEMENT to the libTards, not to mention produces another grinding of teeth in the “O” office.
Don’t you think you could bestir yourself enough for that? If you don’t want to ‘go’ to the theater - go to the box office and buy a ticket - go home and frame it.
THanks so much!
“saw where some pos academy voter, said he would not vote for Eastwod due to his anti Obama appearance at RNC convention”
No way to squeeze more wattage out of a dim bulb.
Even their language shows that they have no clue... "it played like"... as if it was a con job, and not something happening that was real and meaningful and wanted. They want to use tricks to sell tickets (like the Seth Rogen *spit* con job for his insipid movie), and don't even care to try to make anything that people will want to see, on its own merits.
Dear world, the best thing that can happen to you is to lose a war to the US. We will rebuild you and make your country better. OTH Fight the occupation and we will leave you to your own devices. See how well that works out...
I’ll be able to buy one of those. As soon as I win the lotto.
