This column over the years has been interested in liberalism in a special way, as a coroner is interested in a corpse in a special way. Specifically I have been interested in the pathologies that laid the patient low. What precisely has been the cause of death?
The coroner asks what made a robust fellow a corpse. Was it a remorseless cancer or a tragic accident? Was it Huntingtons disease or something else, possibly, simple alcoholism? In the case of the liberal, the cause of death was almost certainly a massive overindulgence. Simply stated, the liberals attempted too much. They even attempted to solve problems that were not conventionally understood as problems. After all, there were no plausible solutions, for instance, for the elimination of poverty, which in America amounts to relative deprivation, not destitution. How can we solve a citizens relative deprivation?
As a result of liberalisms morbidity there are places in America where the liberal once thrived but now has completely vanished. Consider talk radio. I can remember back when the liberal completely dominated the medium. Back in the late 1950s, the 1960s, even in the 1970s, there were people like Jerry Williams in Boston and Irv Kupcinet in Chicago. Now they are gone.
Even when Al Gore summoned the lefts billionaires to subsidize talk radio with something called Air America the endeavor utterly failed. Talk radio is the domain of conservatives. So dominant are conservatives in radio that today talk radio has become a synonym for conservatism. Talk radio, the voices of the left admonish (there are no voices of liberalism remaining), is the enemy of Obamacare, of holding hands with moderate terrorists, of the minimum wage.

Probably because the POV they expound has NO VALIDITY to a "common sense" mind.
I use to listen to KFI from 6 am to 5 pm. Once Rush was gone I never went back to listen to the other local line-up.
R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr PING!
Because nobody wants to hear their sh!t.
Chris Plante is the best. The man is awesome! His vocabulary is the best on radio along with his graciousness and sense of humor. I’m in California so I listen online on iheart radio. WMAL DC. Pacific time 6-9 A M
Please don’t post all caps
I’m with PGR88. There are plenty of lefties on Talk Radio. Diane Rehm, Terry Gross, Tom Ashbrook, Guy Raz, Peter Sagal, Brooke Gladstone, etc., etc.
Bill Handel’s weekend law show is interesting. I ignore his pro-gay marriage anti-Christian rants tho.
Leftists can not have intellectual debates. They don’t like to think deeply about their ideas which is why leftwing radio fails.
The rest of the media is entirely leftist. “They” get theirs everywhere and do not need to search out common opinion. OTH Conservative thought is rare indeed. Talk radio is one of the only venues left that has that “product” to offer so to speak.
I’ve not listened to him or Sgt. Schultz but I heard when people call into his show he’d do the same and either hang up on them or come around to their point of view ... what a wuss.
There are a few here in Los Angeles. They are mixed in with conservatives but get talked over by the liberals.
KFI640am with Bill Handel.
870KRLA The Morning Answer. 3 hosts. Brian Whitman is as dumb a liberal as they come.
Both Bill Handel and Brian Whitman also look alike.
Q: How do you make a small fortune with liberal talk radio?
A: Start with a large one.
Liberals dominate all mass media with the exception of some radio stations. The Left doesn’t need radio when it has all the alphabet networks, the newspapers and Hollywood.
There was one Spanish conservative commentator on KLAT (1010 kc)—he was syndicated in the DFW area on KFLC (1270 kc)
Not sure what's become of him since he left; I'm quite sure he was ousted by Univision for being too conservative, knowing that within that timeframe (2000-2010) they have all but become the Spanish mouthpiece for the D.N.C. or La Raza (Jorge Ramos, & al.)
As liberal as Dallas is, I’m surprised that there ISN’T an urban talk radio outlet; the only thing that comes close is DISH, featuring the local morning racists from KHKS (106700 kc). And that’s a TV show!
Just checked NPR...
They are still there and we are still paying for them.
Best comedy on am radio...
