Ypsilanti Township residents Dave and Sue Weber argue a county-run facility is no place to be showing what they consider offensive, right-wing political propaganda.
They said they started going to the county's recreation center on Washtenaw Avenue last fall and were dismayed to see Fox News show up on four of the 12 television screens in the cardio area during election season.
"In September, when we toured the facility before joining, we didn't notice Fox on at all," Dave Weber said. "But now October comes around, pre-election time, that's when it multiplied onto four screens, four out of the 12 in the cardio room."
Though there's no volume on the TVs, they said, they got tired of seeing offensive closed-caption blocks with remarks such as "Young women aren't capable of voting" and "We have enough illegals here, we don't need more."
They also have been offended by attacks against President Barack Obama and Democrats, and they say there's no programming offering a counter viewpoint.
The couple complained to facility director Jon Keith, but they said asking him change the channel only resulted in a lecture on how the liberals at CNN are trying to take away his gun rights. They said Keith also has denied their requests to switch one of the TV screens to a more left-leaning news channel such as MSNBC.
"It felt to me like the Republican Party had an official of our public recreation facility working for them," Dave Weber said.
Keith declined to comment for this story.

Airports run CNN and MSNBC. What’s their point?
They can’t handle the truth!.......................such as it is...............
“They also have been offended by attacks against President Barack Obama and Democrats, and they say there’s no programming offering a counter viewpoint.”
Funny. How about those offended by the daily personal attacks by the MSM for a full 8 years when Dubya’ was prez? These libtards can kiss my rightwing behind.
Just think of it as a service to liberals to get their heart rate up.
I’ll buy their argument as soon as I can go to an airport without CNN.
But then, CNN’s ratings would go from just above MSNBC to....well...Obama IQ level depths.
Solution:
Take Dave Weber out back, and kick his a$$.
Ever sat in an MD waiting room when they have “The View” on? I prefer waterboarding.
A typical democRAT. Creating a tempest in a teapot.
.
So a liberal activist husband and wife whine and complain that they are offended that they have to see Fox on TV and that their Savior Obama is being criticized on TV and its deemed worthy of a news story. If I were the facilities manager, I’d tell them to do what the Mayor of Rotterdam told intolerant Muslims to do and then if a reporter called to question me about it, I’d tell the reporter to do the same thing.
I think Dave and Sue ought to get a life.
I cannot imagine ever complaining about something as ridiculous as this.
.
Check the article’s survey results. Scary. I have the same circumstance at the YMCA (now just the “Y” to remove the Christian association) and all programming is available with remotes available to all patrons. Its kind of fun seeing the MSNBC viewers glaring at the Fox crowd. I have noticed the MSNBC types are badly built and have low foreheads....even the females.
These two remind me why I do my best to avoid hanging out in large crowds since they always seem to bleat the most. I say one contradictory thing and get jumped. I don’t need them for the most part.
4 out of 12? OMG
Why don’t they just watch one of the other 8 tvs?
First I’ve heard about this inappropriate and very offensive remark, but I was disappointed that it wasn’t the mayor of Rotterdam, NY. Didn’t know “f*** off” was Dutch as well as English.
Yaaaawwwwnnnn.......
A liberal complaining.........
is there any NEW news?
He was surprised to learn that Republicans aren’t disqualified from civil service jobs!
