Durham, N.C. A weekly call to prayer for Muslims will be heard at Duke University starting Friday, school officials said.
Members of the Duke Muslim Students Association will chant the call, known as adhan or azan, from the Duke Chapel bell tower each Friday at 1 p.m. The call to prayer will last about three minutes and be moderately amplified, officials said in a statement Tuesday.
The adhan is the call to prayer that brings Muslims back to their purpose in life, which is to worship God, and serves as a reminder to serve our brothers and sisters in humanity, said Imam Adeel Zeb, Muslim chaplain at Duke. The collective Muslim community is truly grateful and excited about Dukes intentionality toward religious and cultural diversity.

I wish someone would explain to me how they end up all over the place. When they immigrated did they say “I’m going to Utah.” And that’s all they had to say?
...to be fair, I never heard of it happening much after graduation, and never for political reasons. But with the level of pure hatred on the left, it would not surprise me a bit if they would set up people with bogus charges, and then pull their degrees.
He saw how well the elephant was doing in the room; so why not get in the tent himself!
It’ll take gonads...
bump for Jesus
Oh, Shizzzzz.........
Naughty, naughty! No more Merry Smithmas for you, but have a Hinckley New Year anyway!
;^)
Latest update: It’s been cancelled.
Thanks
Sounds to me like an “all day lawyers bait” should the school try to pull a degree after graduation for any reason but massive FRaud.
Gonna be some lawyers get rich at taxpayer expense should the school do something like that.
Duke backs down, cancels Muslim call to prayer from chapel tower
Ping to post 111. Some sort of good news in a ludicrous swamp of insanity.
Some Christian donors and alumni finally got fed up enough to threaten funds cutting. That’s what it takes.
“Some Christian donors and alumni finally got fed up enough to threaten funds cutting. Thats what it takes.”
That’s exactly what it takes.
Thanks for the ping.
Money talks.
Methodists should still be up in arms over this and should still try to get the call removed from campus
Pull all funding until it is gone from campus.
Keep calling and stating your opinions
BYU spokeswoman Carri Jenkins said religious cases, including for example beards worn by Sikh and Muslim students, will be worked out in coordination with the school's chaplain.
Worked out????
Instead, the prayers will be moved to outside the chapel.
Members of the Muslim community will now gather on the quadrangle outside the Chapel, a site of frequent interfaith programs and activities, Schoenfeld said.
The university did not say whether the Muslim call to prayer would be moderately amplified at the new location.
