A Fort Hood soldier who just returned from West Africa and was self-monitoring for Ebola symptoms was found dead on Tuesday outside his apartment, officials said.
Killeen police and hazmat teams arrived after 911 calls came in of a man's body on the front lawn of his home, which is just outside the base.
Fort Hood said that the 24-year-old man, who has not been named, had returned on January 7 as part of a 87-person team assigned to West Africa for three months and was found dead at around 7.30am.
Carrie Williams, director of media relations for Texas Department of State Health Services, told CBS News the man was stationed in Liberia.

The fact is.....they sent a hazmat team....so they’re sure thinking ebola is a darn good possibility.

You make the assumption he died of ebola infection. I seriously doubt that. It takes time to die of ebola. Now, a bullet is fairly quick and these days bullets are flying around certain neighborhoods all the time, so...
why doesn't the media (in this case one not even in the U.S.) tell us what killed him ?

I think it was a self inflicted gun shot wound. Basic haztmat protocols would be the norm.

I am searching to see if I can find WHAT killed him. It could have been anything, and isn't likely to be ebola. You don't just keel over.

I’m thinking the family emergency became family death, and that the soldier couldn’t take it.

You have to search the press releases for a cause of death. On a guy who returns from the west African theater. Ac24 year old healthy soldier. And you find that normal

No visible trauma to his body, so I’m guessing he committed suicide by pill or poison.

You do not just go from having NO VISIBLE SYMPTOMS to keeling over dead. Plus, they did an initial test for ebola on him and it came back negative.
The soldier had returned home due to a death in the family. It is likely that further testing will show he committed suicide with poison or pills.
