(Reuters) - Prosecutors in New Mexico are seeking murder charges against two Albuquerque police officers in connection with the 2014 shooting death of a homeless man, which sparked protests in the city, police said on Monday.
Former Albuquerque police detective Keith Sandy and current officer Dominique Perez could face murder charges linked to the March 16 killing of mentally ill homeless man James Boyd, police spokesman Tanner Tixier said.
That shooting prompted protests sharply critical of the Albuquerque police department, which the federal government found has used excessive, even deadly, force against civilians. It is now facing reforms and is under federal monitoring.
Sandy and Perez both face murder charges, Second Judicial District Attorney Kari Brandenburg said in a statement provided through her office. The statement provided no further information on the details of the charges.

Now this was a case that was very blatant when it came to the officers shooting someone being wrong, unlike fergeson which was trumped up by race pimps.

I'm betting the judge tosses it. As long at the police officer claims he feared for his safety, or his partner's in this case, then history has shown they can get away with just about anything.
In Tacoma, WA, officers back shoot crazy guys and get away with it.
“Then all of a sudden, (the officer) yelled something and she tried Tasing him, but missed. When the guy started to run away, (the officer) immediately threw the Taser down, pulled her gun out and shot.” The man seemed to be running in slow motion — possibly drunkenly — as he attempted to flee, Graham said. That’s when the officer fired four shots, several of which appeared to hit the man, she added, “I didn’t see anything in his hands,” Graham added. “I didn’t see him do anything physical or threatening. “Folks we watched this while waiting in the turn lane. From what I viewed the slow moving but irritated homeless man was absolutely murdered. I could have restrained him with one arm. To be watching something that seemed sorta funny be turned into a shooting......I am not comfortable as a tax paying and law abiding citizen in Tacoma anymore. Maybe time to relocate our business as this type of event is now all too common in Tacoma.” (2)

I am sure they will say that, but one major problem with that argument......They have a video that shows the guy running and they are shooting.
And 3 more times (in the back) when he was already down... looks like cold-blooded murder to me.

Did you watch the video? The man was armed with 2 knives and ignored repeated warnings to get on the ground. He clearly caused his own death.
Sure. He was 10 feet away from the nearest cop, standing still, making no threatening moves, and the cop that shot him was 20 or 25 feet away from him. Looks like a clean kill to me. </sarcasm>
Really, “cold blooded murder”?
The shooting started and stopped in about 1.5 seconds. The homeless, ARMED scumbucket had the cops in a 4 hour standoff and then refused urgent orders to “get on the ground” for at least 6 seconds before the police fired.
If cops actually did their jobs the way the Monday morning QBs here think they should, there would be a whole lot of dead cops and innocent civilians.
A man with a knife (or knives) is a grave threat to anyone armed with a gun within 21 feet.

The guy’s already laying on the ground, on his belly with hands visible, and they pump 3 more shots into his back seemingly for no reason.
Care to explain why they shot him in the back?
