I learned to hate the Cowgirls when they started to call themselves “America’s Team”. No girls, I’m an American and you’re definitely not my team.

“America’s Team” was bestowed on Dallas by NFL Films, not the Cowboy organization, and was bolstered over the years as Dallas’s NFL merchandizing sales often were greater than the rest of the league combined.

FYI, The Cowboys never called themselves “America’s Team”. That moniker was the creation of NFL films, in reference to the marketing genius of Tex Schramm who brought Cowboy broadcasts to many unserved markets in the early to mid sixties. Hence their popularity in many geographic locations across the U.S. Hate them if you want, but get your facts in order.
