BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- In the eyes of Argentina's courts, female orangutan Sandra is a person -- or at least worthy of rights and protections similar to those of a human being. As Andrés Gil Dominguez, spokesperson for the Association of Professional Lawyers for Animal Rights in Argentina, puts it: she's no longer just an "object" in the eyes of the law.
It's the first time an animal has been granted expansive basic rights on par with a human.

No???!
Sarcasm?
Wow. I guess the left in Argentina is looking for new ways to pad their voting rolls. Talk about getting desperate.
What about Sandra's brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, are they enjoying the same benefits as Sandra? Or, is she a special case?
Can a female orangutan read and write and defend herself in court? Or is she dependent upon a lawyer spokesperson?
Which animals are next in line for human rights - dogs, cats, other monkeys, cows, goats, etc.?
Is there not some kind of a test to demonstrate that Sandra is a person? Can she communicate, do math, write, talk, answer questions, explain why she wants human rights? Or, is this just a joke to demonstrate how corrupt lawyers in black robes can be? PETA must be happy.
And don’t forget about the Swiss government giving plants rights. Save the vegetables!

I recently visited Sandra at the zoo, coo coo ka choo.
She had the Bible open in her lap, and also a copy of Darwin’s ‘On the Origin of Species’.
Frankly I was flummoxed, so I asked her what in the world she thought she was doing.
Using Koko the gorilla as a signing interpreter, she replied, “I’m trying to figure out if I’m my brother’s keeper or my keeper’s brother.”

well I’ll be a monkey’s uncle...
It is impossible to grant human rights to a monkey, even if one tries.
Another illusion of the left.
good, we needed more topics about this. ;’)

That’s nothing
In America, a floppy eared monkey is President
so she can choose her own diet, vet, and more importantly, her orang lover?
If she were in the US with the same rights, and enrolled in Obamacare, she wouldn’t be able to keep her vet.
No, but she can get an abortion.
That’s her! I recognize her wide hips and righteous strut of indignation! It’s hard to tell if she’s acting or sincere. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s an act.
