It's all very simple: the Republicans lost Florida in the 2012 presidential election by 0.88. If conservatives stay at home in 2016 in the same numbers as they did in 2012, then there is no chance of the GOP winning. If conservatives are advised by Governor Palin (unlike in 2012) and Mark Levin to either stay home or vote third-party, then it is impossible to see how Florida could be won by, for example, Jeb Bush.
However, for argument's sake, if, because of Bush's Florida connection and a bad economy, Florida is won, then Ohio (-2.98%), Virginia (-3.88%), and Colorado (-5.36%) also have to be roped-in. The road to 270 Electoral College votes is extremely difficult under the most optimal of circumstances; utter realism indicates that it is impossible with the slightest bleeding off of actual or potential votes from 2012.
What Ralph Nader did for Al Gore's hopes in 2000 would be a pinprick compared to the mountain a Republican nominee would face with a conservative base doing a de Blasio back-turn. There is no comparison with Reagan's 1980 victory, even though there was Republican John Anderson, running as an independent, who got 6.6% of the vote. This is because a Republican won't win both New York and California, as Reagan did, for the foreseeable future.
If the Republican nominee is an establishment figure, a Bush or a Christie, then he has to face the question of his relationship with Governor Palin. Mitt Romney didn't have her as part of his campaign or even have her address the Republican Convention (at which she was the star just four years earlier) in 2012. What did that avail him? There is, of course, no way to determine if the millions of potential GOP voters who stayed home might have turned out...

if it’s Jeb vs Hillary then I’d expect someone with money, like Donald Trump, to run and get a Ross Perot sized percentage of the vote .... Jeb vs Hillary 2016 race is just begging for a big name, big money, big ego person to get in...it’s an easy sell for a 3rd party guy...”you really want another Clinton or Bush?”
and of course that all leads to a Hillary landslide ....and the final and complete destruction of Jeb and the fam....
Is Jeb Bush pro-life? That may be his only saving stance. Surely he is and proud to be but how will he articulate his stand? I hope he is not the nominee.

R, D, show me the difference.
Different sides of the very same coin.
Comments? This is what I’ve been telling people for quite a while. Jeb Bush means the destruction of the Republican party. Most likely Christie and Romney as well.
What's a "republican" and why would I waste a vote and a donation on one if it turns into a progressive as soon as the election is over?
“Demonicrat Traitor”
Democrat and traitor in the same thought is the ultimate redundancy.
IMHO
It won’t matter. Remember Terri Schiavo?
13 Submit yourselves for the Lords sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, 14 or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right. 15 For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men. 16 Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God. 17 Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king. - 1 Peter 2:13-17
1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is Gods servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are Gods servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.
6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are Gods servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. - Romans 13:1-7
Remember, when Peter and Paul authored these these passages Nero was Emperor. Nero, who killed his own mother and stepbrother, who joked about his mother’s assassination of his stepfather, and who eventually declared Christianity an illicit religion under Roman law, punishable by death.
So we have the God given benefit of a say in the selection of our leaders (these early Christians mostly did not). How then can we abdicate our our responsibility and yet complain to God about our leadership?
Discharge your responsibility, however odious the choice, and your conscience will be clear when you approach the throne of grace to offer up petitions regarding the Godless who have usurped power in your land!
The first thing a just elected Representative is going to do is vote against the current Speaker?
I don’t see Bush inviting Palin, either. I don’t see the republicans winning if they have Bush, Christie, Romney, McCain, or any of the others who have said they might consider a run...Portman?, etc. We are NOT IN THE MOOD to play these games any more and I wrote my Congressman this morning to address my displeasure with his vote for Boehner and to express my hope that he’ll stand on the conservative principles he ran on. I told him I was seriously thinking of looking for a new party.
These Congress-critters need to get MILLIONS of these letters from the conservative base. THEN we’ll see if they will listen or blow us off...in which case we’ll know for sure that they hate us and do not want us. We cannot go on like we have. We have got to put off this nonsense that we will make them listen. Its not a matter of them hearing us. It is a matter of them keeping their word and listening to the American people who put them in office. They are VERY sure that we will not flee the republican party and even though we are upset, they can count on us to keep them in office. You all do realize that they have NO INTENTION of doing our bidding, but will jump when the lobbyists say jump. Let’s not stay in this stupid game. I’m tired of being “had” over and again. What promises have the republicans KEPT in the past 6 years, let alone the past 20 years?
“1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted....”
So then our founding fathers were filled with sin and disobeyed God. Which means our Country was founded on sin.
I’m not debating what you posted, and I’m not debating the bible either.
With the recrowning of the cryin Cheeto, the Gelded Old Pansies are deader than the Whiggs. Nothing will change without a true opposition party. The GOPe likes the ‘Rats more than Conservatives. The jig is up.
Do his/her voters and supporters now feel betrayed and lied to as a result?
Maybe in a couple of years we'll try again...
Good man; that's all I ask — Just vote for someone.
At this point, my opinion of Republicans is no different than my opinion of Democrats - 0% trust. They are, and have been, for decades, two sides of the same coin. And a worthless one at that.
There is no saving the Whig Party. They have made it painfully evident, in words and in deeds, that THEY DON’T WANT CONSERVATIVES IN THE PARTY.
Why persist in staying where we are not wanted. The GOPe ignore us with impunity. They attack us. They do not represent us.
Very well said.
I agree 1000%!
Except that, politically speaking, Romney and Obama are the same person!
It does zero good just to change some stupid letter from D to R… we need people that are willing to stand up for what we want, what we believe.
Insofar as the GOP is concerned, I think they illustrate this verse quite well:
(Pv. 25:14)
Like clouds and wind without rain is one who boasts of gifts never given.
Given the zero difference between D and R, doesn't this also mean that Republican and Traitor are also ultimate redundancy?
Who of the potential Democratic candidates is to the left of Obama? I don’t even think Bernie Sanders is to his left and he may even hate America less. In other words, since we have already been subjected to the worse outcome the only thing that can change the direction of the country is a true conservative. I will not vote for Bush, Christie or Romney even I it means that Hillary or Bernie win. I just won’t vote for the candidate that gives us more of the same even if the initial after their name is different.
You speak truth. Thank you for doing so.
