According to a letter received by a veteran that was obtained by TheBlaze, the VA sees the use of gun locks as a health care issue, and wants veterans to use them if they own a gun.
“As your partner in health care, we are committed to keeping you and your family safe,” the letter said. “Gun locks have been shown to greatly reduce death and injury caused by firearms in the home. We are therefore offering you the opportunity to obtain up to four free gun locks.”

Remember also that because of a recent executive order, 35 government agencies now have unlimited, unrestricted access to your medical records.
(list of agencies on page includes the VA, which will share veterans medical records with very leftist-agenda oriented federal agencies. So bottom line, the only way to have privacy is not to give that information to your doctor, or any other information in public that could be assembled to discover things about you the government should not know.)

Homosexuality is more dangerous to health, if health really was the concern. But it’s not. Guns are not a health issue. It’s a control issue.
Gun locks mean the home invasion guys win because I can’t get a weapon out in time. Same for a safe (tho they are good for collectors).

They may send you a gun lock, but your name has been put on a list that will be added to the NCIS one day. That designation will be a medical disqualifier for buying a new gun.
If you apply for free firearm locks, you are telling the Obummer Regime you have firearms. Besides, as a waste of VA funds, you would be depriving someone of needed VA services.
