“There is simply no home for conservative ideas in either major party.”
I cannot believe the defeatism I hear coming from so many conservatives. MadMax is absolutely right. The Republican Party is OUR party. Are we going to keep running away from fights? Can’t you see it’s all about the votes? The person with the most votes wins.
There is simply no way for the RINOs to keep us from eventually seizing control so long as we don’t hand victory by refusing to engage. Every single conservative who gives up and leaves the GOP makes it that much easier for the RINOs or Democrats to win. Good luck winning primaries by choosing to not participate!
I ask, how in the world are conservatives going to create a successful third party when we can’t even cooperate enough to win control of the GOP—a party where we are still the largest faction?

The Republican Party is OUR party. No it's not, and hasn't been for a long time.

Actually the GOP was born a "LIBERAL" party for northern industrial elitist and within a few short years became hell bent on having a strong federal government over states rights thus triggering a Civil War. One of the few times it has swayed from that agenda was under Reagan. It may be "Your" Party but it doesn't represent my beliefs and hasn't since Boehner's 1996-97 GOP-E Coup which many ignore. Boehner isn't a Johnny Come Lately Tyrant. He's been one for two decades while under GOP-E Control he helped establish it's business as usual. It's WHIG Time for the GOP. We need a true opposition party and the GOP as such has historically never been that much of one except for being on the wrong side of issues. Remember Big Government Nixon? Remember Poppy and W Big Government Bush? Remember Bob Dole Says? Remember "Obama would make a good president" McCain?
So will you now point out to us just when the GOP was the Conservatives party?

The Republican party is “our” party?
You are talking about the same party that completely ignores the will of its own base.
You are talking about the same party that joyfully proclaimed that the days of Reagan conservatism is dead.
You are talking about the same party that time and time again has said that conservatives can not win on the national level and instead offer limp wristed wishy washy Juan Mclame, and Romney.
The GOP views conservatives like those of us on this site as the enemy.
