ank-and-file Republicans are fuming at what they see as the heavy-handed tactics of Republican leaders, one day after a divisive vote that narrowly handed Speaker John Boehner the gavel for another term.
Members who opposed Boehner on the floor are frustrated that two rebels have already been stripped of committee assignments, while the speaker's allies, angered by an embarrassingly close vote that played out on national television, warn darkly of more punishment to come. And some conservatives who backed Boehner complain that they are now facing a different kind of retributionfrom the Right.
(snip)
Retribution is not being enacted simply against those who participated in the attempted coup, and members are using that fact in a plea for leniency for their colleagues. Members who have often butted heads with the speaker but who voted for him on Tuesday said leadership should understand they are facing consequences from the Right for supporting Boehner in the face of an onslaught of people demanding they depose him.
Rep. Raul Labrador rose in front of his colleagues at Wednesday's Conference meeting and said he has already drawn a primary challenge over his vote for Boehner. Labrador read from his smartphone from the more than 4,000 comments people had posted on his Facebook page, including one calling him a "scumbag asshole" for supporting Boehnerand joked that it's all true. Conservative talk-radio host Mark Levin had specifically directed listeners to target Labrador for his vote, he noted.
Other members spent Wednesday afternoon defending their vote for Boehner to local press, and some said that after December's omnibus vote and Tuesday's display on the House floor, they have never been under more pressure from constituents.

Time for a march on Washington to get him out, PERIOD!
Elections have consequences—even if its for Speaker. The feigned outrage will slip quietly away as the gop-e moves along with boehner and obamas’ plan to destroy what is remaining of this country.
I called Sensenbrenner’s office and said “I a DONE with him. No more money and no more help re-electing him”
DONE as in D O N E. The fellow that answered the phone said Jim votes conservative more than most any rep. I said yes he does but he just voted for a drunken Boehner after my many phone calls last week. Disgusted.
they have never been under more pressure from constituents.

HELL YEAH! I went on Twitter and publicly excoriated my newly elected Congressman, Brian Babin (Southeast Texas). I, and others told him that he betrayed us the first day on the job by voting “Present” and we will NOT forget anytime soon.
These guys are way out of touch with reality. Every idiot who supported Boehner should face a primary challenge.
Good for you!
"I think the majority of the conference would like to see
something done with them, because they put the conservative agenda at stake with their wanting to be on television," said Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, a close Boehner ally. "A couple people got up, and they were whining about they didn't want retribution, the speaker shouldn't do it. They don't realize the speaker's not one of the guys who wants to do it, but all of us think they should have retribution, and it tells me how weak they are if they're getting up there whining about having retribution against them."
And Rep. Peter King said that if this had happened in New York state politics, the consequences might have been more severe. "Guys take on a speaker and lose, they're never heard from again," he said.
Who, exactly, is feigning outrage?
Someone needs to ask John Boehner how it feels to be the most hated man in America right now.

Great article. Thanks for posting. It helps to know who is pressing for more retaliation.
It is obvious that the Republican wing of the uniparty is not going to be taken over by Conservatives. It is time for prominent conservatives in Congress to renounce the GOP and form a new party. That step must be supported by Conservative opinion leaders and money from donors who oppose a socialist America. It is an endless futile exercise to work for Constitutional representation in Congress to only have the will of the voters immediately neutered.
I was recently admiring Marsha Blackburn now that’s gone. Any Republican who votes for the liar boehner gets no support from me. The situation is too dire to encourage phonies.
Wouldn't it be nice if they could be sued for fraud or breach of promise? (I know, wishful thinking)
How childish. Wonder if he will switch parties to feel more at home.
Now, Representative Boehner has one of two different courses he may follow - Be magnanimous, and withhold any punishment of those who chose NOT to vote for him, or he can go after the dissidents and show them what having power really means. After all, that second alternative would be the course pursued by the opposition party, and while they were in charge, it was highly effective in maintaining party discipline.
But, should Boehner decide it more prudent to be magnanimous, let this be extended to the majority of GOP voters as well. Get on the phone with Newt Gingrich, and get his input toward drawing up a new “Contract with America”, an agenda to mitigate the very worst abuses imposed in the past six years by the Current Occupant of the edifice which he has degraded into the White Hut, and to keep Mitch McConnell over in the Senate steering to true north.
It is entirely possible that a decent and honest approach will peel off enough Democrat votes in both the House and Senate to override any veto or threat of veto, and force some degree of conformity with American ideals upon the Current Regime.
We go to war using the army we have, not with the army we want.
They all could redeem themselves and call for a new election. In fact, I insist.
I wouldn’t hold my breath...
Republicans better get a clue and wake up to the fact that Boehner is a
Wolf in Sheep's clothing being controlled by the same people as Obama.
Or even Obama himself including Jarrett the Communist.
Bet on it!
