People of Free Republic. I would like your critique of the following statement:
To say that "I am a Muslim but I am not a member of Al Qaeda or ISIS." is virtually identical to saying that "Sure, I'm a member of the Nazi party but I'm not a member of the Waffen SS or the Einsatzgruppen."
LOL, is it even possible for you to make a reply without first constructing a straw-man that you can knock down to divert attention from the point at hand?
TECHNICALLY, YOU invoked the phrase "good Nazi." Therefore the equivalent comparison would be "good Muslim."
Sheesh. I'd hate to see how you drive.
It’s a fascinating and ultimately disturbing book. So many of these people were “loyal Germans” who were willing to humiliate themselves and betray their Jewish ancestry so that they could serve Hitler. Very sad.
Here’s a famous case (guy’s photo was used on recruitment posters!): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werner_Goldberg
Here’s the author, Rigg, on CSPAN in an hour and 15 minute talk (audio only): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIMikjs36NM Listen to the first 6 minutes to hear about how Rigg went from failing the first grade twice to graduating from Yale University!!!
Here’s a clip from an Larry Price/Israeli film about Hitler’s Jewish Soldiers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrWMj0hpPjs
“your point is irrelevant to the comparison made by the OP.”
Actually my point is not irrelevant since there are NO corresponding examples from ISIS members. Since there are none, it is fair to say that the aggregate comparison is not a proper analogy.
Try to keep up.
Please post the verse in the NEW TESTAMENT that allows Christians to Kill people that do not follow the teachings of Christ.
“Sheesh. I’d hate to see how you drive.”
I’d hate to see how you think. None of us will have to worry about seeing that, of course.
The only peace in that peaceful religion is the peace of a mass grave.
On CNN, almost simultaneously, they were having a three-way conversation with some academic, a muslim woman, and the host, about how ‘this is not about Islam vs other religions. It is about radical vs moderate’. When I heard this, juxtaposed with the tragic events of today and with what Choudary had just said, I could hardly believe these people can continue to be so delusional.
Their delusional PC pseudo-intellectual world view is highly dangerous, and very misguided. They were saying that radical Islam only gets a foothold because the people in the Muslim communities are ‘dispossessed’, and that if we don't make them feel wanted by society, they will be prime targets for radicalization. They actually tried characterize this as a socioeconomic problem. That is truly delusional, even if it does somehow coincide with what they learned in their sociology classes.
This guy, Choudary, is educated (a lawyer in Britain). He isn't radical because he's dispossessed, or because he's at the socioeconomic fringe. The fervent Nazis of last century weren't just dispossessed, socioeconomically disadvantaged ‘throw away’ people of German society either. Violent and evil ideology exists in the world, and trying fit the world into a tiny little PC box won't change reality, and won't keep the world safe.
Id hate to see how you think. None of us will have to worry about seeing that, of course.
If course there aren't any, that's MY point, and YOUR straw man. The issue is Muslims, Vlad. Try to keep up. The OP compared Nazis and Muslims. That's the subject. You've got so many straw men crowding in you're losing your place. Either that or you're posting and driving at the same time again, and you know what that does to your ability to think.
Islam is the opposite; it's very, very fractured. There's no "Islamic Führer" or even an "Islamic Pope". (However, the Saudis are trying very hard to bring the whole Sunni world under a very strict, Wahhabist rule. Iran is doing something similar with the Shiite sect.)
That's why there are Muslims who think that ISIS is awesome, and other Muslims who think they're scum, and other Muslims who are dead now because ISIS killed them. (The Kurds, who are doing most of the fighting against ISIS, are Sunni Muslims themselves, just not the same kind of Sunni Muslim that ISIS is.)
Exactly!

Exactly! And that's all they will accomplish.
Good way of stating things. It is time we quit treating Islam as a religion to be protected and respected. It is not and it deserves universal renouncing.
This Choudary?
No, they are simply delusional.
Good point. Lets hope they don't find him. Can you say ANTIWHATEVER!
Oh please. I wasn't making direct comparisons between Christianity, Judaism and Islam! I am pointing out the weakening of the message -- who can deny that our churches have become less about scripture and teachings and more about social gathering and fundraising?
How many churches have "evolved" on the issue of homosexuality? What about the rise of the "feel good" televangelists (not all but a disturbing trend)? And these are just recent developments, the changes over 2000 years are more profound.
There has got to be something amiss in this “religion”
Terror is the fruit...if there is a different fruit, someone tell me where it is
Even when he was in the Clan...
However; democrats lie.. some on purpose others because what they believe is bullsperm..
You make my point for me.
