Nearing freezing here in the Charleston SC area. Heavy snow flurries now with no accumulation expected.

It’s -10 here, going down to -18. I’ve been pretty busy keeping the woodstove and the pellet stove going. And I’m afraid the oil furnace has kicked in a bit.

Elevator said it would be -0 tomorrow in Boston, after showing -0 in Chicago earlier this week. Is that colder than 0, or about the same?

We're camping in Spartanburg. Unexpected motorhome troubles have forced us to stay here for another few days. Sheesh, we'd planned to be back in sunny FL by now. The heat pump on our A/C says 'no dice' below 40 deg, so we're glad the propane furnace is working well.
Still, I went and bought a new CO detector tonight, just in case. I tend to be a worrier.

Monday night I stayed in a town about 300 miles north of Montreal where it got to -25F.At that temperature the metal in a gas station nozzle is so cold that, without gloves,it instantaneously is so painful to touch that it's unbelievable (I know that after having tried it).Driving south Tuesday my car thermometer was still reading -25F at 11AM.

I was at MS State then. We got about that a few years earlier in my hometown in MS. I do not remember the date but we had gone out of town for a girls basketball game. We knew it was snowing but we were amazed when we came out of the gym. We had to go up a hill to get to the road my house was on. Everyone but the driver had to get out and push to get up the hill. This was in the late 50’s when we had to wear dresses or skirts and blouses. Precious memories.

I know Ventura. 76 is practically the year round temp, except around the 4th of July on the beach and then it is chilly!
Here northwest of Tucson, we hit a record high of 80 degrees, way past the normal. Snowed last week at my house. Lot of plants died.

I’m in the middle of the Permian Basin here in West Texas and we still have spots of ice and snow on the ranch left over from a front that blew in last Tuesday and we have another blew in last night. More ice and snow predicted! I lost 8 poles and 2 major feeder lines coming into the ranch, half my wells are still shut down.

Ah, it’s a toasty 7 degrees here, think I’ll wear shorts today.

-11 this morning in Central NH, with a measured wind chill of -25.
Horrible, but not as bad, I bet, as 9 in Alabama. Stay warm, MamaB.
