The protesters stormed the restaurants and harassed staff and patrons.

That's a law enforcement prejudice then, because getting in somebody's face is LEGAL, and staying in a private place after being told to depart is trespassing, and illegal.
Any or all of the patrons could have hurled insults at these cretins, told them off, mocked them, etc. - and unless the proprietor told the patron to leave and the patron didn't leave, the police have NO legal basis for an arrest.
Doesn't mean they won't make an illegal arrest, they do it all the time - sometimes in order to keep the peace by placating the thugs.
Definitely. I just came home from brunch. Not a single black person in the restaurant, not even in the kitchen.
It isn’t about race, but about class. White trash that urinates between the jukebox and the video game bacause they are so drunk is just as unacceptable. It is a screen that allows an establishment to keep out the worst. For a hundred bucks you can have a year’s membership to a place you can take your wife/girlfriend without some POS making it intolerable. Hispanics are welcome (they contribute by drinking Mexican beer, which isn’t as cheap as Bud), but the undocumented ones can be a handful. Besides harassing any unaccompanied female, they’ll also bring along their own bottles of hard liquor and drink in the restroom (endangering the liquor license of the establishment).
It would certainly be enough to cause me to display a weapon.
Otherwise, you are just falling for their race-baiting trap. They were no doubt hoping some "cowboy" would step up and make a scene so they could Twitter it around the world and fuel the flames of racial warfare.
Trust, me indifference is the prudent approach here.

No-rural Texas, but pretty much the same working class/redneck type population-we have several biker events here-they are the only tourist base we still have, thanks to Obama, and they are catered to. Plus, a lot of guys out here are weekend bikers, especially in my line of work.

I don’t trust you. I have seen the result of the hands off approach. I see it in DC with Rinos empowering Barry, I see it on FR with libs running wild and I see it in real life every time I see pictures like this INCREASE BY THE DAY.
You can appease all you like. Look at the result and tell me that it works.
If they were smart, they would eliminate with the toughest first and work down.
I know exactly what these restaurants will do. They likely have friends in the unions as well as the mob. Almost a requirement to do business there. So ask for some strong arms, so that the restaurant can remain a “pleasant dining experience” for the bosses that eat there.
The best part is that there would be no direct connection between the business and the thugs, so as long as they took it outside, the NYPD will likely not even bother to write up a report.
