Rep. Ted Yoho Joins Movement Against Boehner, Offers Himself As Potential Alternative
Breitbart.com ^ | 1/3/15 | Matthew Boyle

Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) says he will vote against House Speaker John Boehner’s re-election. Further, Yoho is the first GOP member of the House of Representatives to announce he is willing to stand up as an alternative candidate to Boehner if no other alternatives emerge. Yoho joins Reps. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) in announcing he will not be voting for Boehner on Tuesday.

“I ran for Congress in 2012 because I had had enough,” Yoho said in announcing his public opposition to Boehner. “Enough of career politicians, enough of political gamesmanship, and enough of the lack of leadership in Washington. As we enter 2015, we are faced with overwhelming challenges. However, the dawn of 2015 also promises unlimited potential and the opportunity to begin rebuilding America.”

Yoho also said in his statement that he would be willing to stand up as a potential alternative candidate to Boehner, if members feel they need to vote for someone other than Boehner even though the Congressional Research Service report detailing speakership elections says there is no need for an alternative. Technically, Republicans need just 29 GOP votes for someone other than Boehner as Speaker on the first ballot—at which point the vote would be kicked off to a second or third or fourth ballot. If Boehner is not re-elected swiftly on the first ballot, it is likely that shortly thereafter an alternative would emerge.

In a news release, Rep. Bridenstine applauded Yoho’s actions. “Congressman Ted Yoho is a courageous leader. I applaud and respect him for standing up to offer an alternative to the status quo,” the Oklahoma Republican announced.

I am with you. Pray and pray again and I will pray again. And I will call the bonehead's office and all those 29 that have testicles—big testicles. Bonehead—you are relegated to your tanning bed and your martini lunch. Good bye...

Wow. Your plan is bold and gutsy. I like it. Someone on an earlier thread when asked to explain a plan on how Boehner would lose - the response was implosion, but nothing more. You have filled that void. If those conservatives did that, they would be heroes and Boehner would be there sweating to see if they had the guts to continue voting for her. I don't think Boehner would throw in the towel until the next vote would make her Speaker...white knuckle time. Brilliant plan. Thanks.

Every congressman votes for the Speaker. The Speaker can be anybody, from either party or an outsider. You don’t even need to be a representative to be Speaker. It could be you if you get enough votes. However, there has never been a Speaker that wasn’t a representative.

If Pelosi got back in, leading a Republican House, she’d be a lot more likely to have a heart attack or stroke, don’t you think?

The idea is more and more appealing as I think about it.

Hi Bobalu,

Do you know if the roll call is in alphabetical order? Is it for an extended period of time? I’m wondering if 27-28 Repubs vote for Pelosi, and there is one or two holdouts, could pressure be put upon Boehner to fall on his sword? Then, if he doesn’t, the remaining Reps could vote for a third candidate so no one wins a first ballot. It would require a lot of fortitude and integrity to execute.

26 more and we may make the required impact...

I cannot count on, and have made my case to my congressperson...He doesn’t like me anyway because of things like this...

He’s trying real hard to get a committee assignment that matters...So he is not going to screw up that chance...

Sad...

Gosar (the Ghozarian) makes 4 that have come out publically...

Got this from another FR thread...You’ll see it...

Looks like the numbers are coming up, but Tuesday is still a couple of days away...

We may see a run on the market, or somebody is going to send out the congressional goon squad and reign in the folks wavering...
