Donald Montgomery, a decorated retired police detective who served in the United States Navy, says in a lawsuit that his pistol permit and four handguns were seized by authorities in New York after he sought medical treatment for insomnia, the Daily Caller reported Friday. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat who once said conservatives who oppose gun control aren't welcome in his state, and several other state officials are named as defendants in the lawsuit filed on December 18.

Guess they took them before he had a boating accident. That would have been tragic.
I spoke with a guy who was running a multi-million dollar enterprise in NY. He sold out to his partners and is starting over in Florida. He said he didn’t like their gun laws and “they can kiss my *ss.”
When I was looking for a job, I ruled out all the non-carry states. (I’ve started my own business now.)
This is the sort of insanity the left wants to bring to national politics. Once Obamacare is ingrained in the American experience, all of our personal health details will become property of the state, and they’ll have no problem poring over our records to find instances where we sought help from a licensed mental health professional.
All this will serve to do is to stop people from seeking mental health assistance altogether.
This is interesting. There are very strict laws regarding disclosure of health information. It sounds very much like somebody broke them.
This is gun confiscation by another name and is going to become the norm in states with Leftist governments. They intend to take all weapons away from law abiding citizens and they don’t care that the law and the Constitution stand in their way.
Exactly. Unfortunately we suffered a tragic boating accident on the way to the gun range and lost everything ... we’re all inconsolable.
I’m doubtful this nation will hold together long enough for that. Keep in mind, O bummer will not leave office willingly
“The Affordable Care and Patient Privacy act.”
Clinton’s “most ethical gov. ever” and Barry’s “most transparent gov. ever”: Democrats have this “Nineteen-eighty four” predilection to name things opposite to what they really mean.
We’ve seen how “affordable” their Frankenstein monster is, but the other shoe—patient privacy—hasn’t even dropped yet.
Along with scores of government drones, many others will be looking at our “confidential” medical records.
I’ve been saying that since he took office. I was wrong about the 2012 elections. I do believe, however, he’s orchestrating something for the next two years that will rend this nation in two.
There's no way to know the specifics but first of all, don't ever tell anyone in medicine you suffer from depression. I'm not saying he did; it's just an aside. "Depression" is an overused, generalized term that red flags you, sometimes for the rest of your life. Especially if you're in medicine, law enforcement, public office, military, etc.
Second, "staff?" That could be anybody. And some staff "members" in medicine are the most slovenly, stupid people alive.
I hope the gentleman in the article ends up owning that entire sewer of a city/state.
This is why I couldn’t understand why gun-rights advocates thought mental health checkups are okay for granting licenses. When the gov gets to decide who’s crazy, only the crazies who support everything the gov does will be declared sane.
I agree.
1. Who in this country doesn’t have bouts of insomnia?
2. What if it is due to Obama and ongoing national healthcare shortages, tax hike burdens?
:(
You do know that your regular doctor evaluates aspects of your mental health and life style, don't you? And writes a summary of his/her evaluation.
So, I'm paranoid. There could come a day (it's already partially here) that what's in your permanent physical and mental health portfolio will be what determines your future.
If you have time read the referenced stories at the conclusion of the article. The worm may be turning in NY.
This is why it is important to have an attorney draw up a family “Gun Trust” and name many co-beneficiaries. Keep the guns mobile, off site, and descrete. When the Po-po wants them (Well....they better have a warrant first), give them the name of all the co-beneficiaries of the trust. I think I have Donald Duck, Goofy, and Mickey Mouse listed as co-beneficiaries in mine, along with the entire NY Yankees team of the 1930s. I’ll let the cops drown in investigative work as they look for jointly-owned property of the trust, and all along, I and only I will know where they really are......(at the bottom of the river).
I haven’t been to a PCP in years. I go to a specialist for a specific health issue, and he’s the only doctor, outside of my dentist and ophthalmologist, who I see on a yearly basis.
As I get older, however, I will be keenly aware of what I say.
Almost everyone does, probably. Some of us have more trouble with hypersomnia, however, and they'll probably make that into a reason to take your guns also (always asleep -- no need for the guns).
Bingo! The outward expression of depression is anger. So now that he’s hacked off, he must be depressed. Gotcha!!
