The Ducks and Buckeyes will meet for the trophy in Arlington, Texas.
On Monday, Jan. 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET, the No. 2 Oregon Ducks and No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes will be in Cowboys Stadium to play in the first-ever College Football Playoff final. The Ducks clinched their spot by embarrassing defending champion Florida State in the Rose Bowl, 59-20, while OSU upset No. 1 Alabama, 42-35, in New Orleans.
This will be Oregon's second appearance in an officially ordained national championship game. The Ducks' first came in the 2010 season's BCS Championship, when they lost, 22-19, to Cam Newton's Auburn in Arizona.
Ohio State made three BCS Championships, winning 2002's against Miami and losing 2006's and 2007's to Florida and LSU, respectively.
According to odds released before the Playoff began, Oregon would be a 6.5-point favorite against Ohio State. We'll wait to see the actual spread after Vegas gets another look at things. You gotta think both teams just moved the needle a little bit.

A bad coaching hire can set a program back years, just ask Florida.
Jones finally got them in a bowl game. Dooley was the dumbest hire in history and it’s going to take them years to repair the damage.
I also think there’s something at Tenn that makes coaches not want to go there. Jones was their 4th choice.
Lame Kitten was the one who really set Tennessee back.
I said after they hired Kiffin that if SoCal called he’d bolt in a heartbeat. He did. Kiffin’s record was an improvement over Fuller’s last year.
Then they hired “Orange Pants” Dooley. And for some reason he even had to get the pants from in England.
Muschamp had the Texas job guaranteed but jumped when Florida called. I’m sure he wishes he’d have stayed at Texas. I don’t think he could have done any worse than Strong. But he sure didn’t help Florida. People say Meyer didn’t leave him anything. Apparently Muschamp couldn’t find anything on his own.
Kiffen == Kotite
Apparently Saban sees something in Kiffin.
Bama was passing the ball way too much. It was the pick 6 that made the difference in the game. They should have run more, relied on the excellent punter and defense, and been patient.
They also should have worked Cooper into the offense using wide receiver screens, end arounds, anything. The guy is too good not to get a dozen touches per game.
Alabama also had a lot of injuries they didn’t deal with. Ohio State is to be commended for having a 3rd string QB that plays that well.
They probably won’t since the topic doesn’t involve Congress.
SEC won’t let Texas or Baylor in their conference.
What network?
OSU-AL was a great game tonight. Really enjoyed it.
A&M will be much improved next year because we fired our defensive coordinator. We did better in the bowl game with the interim coordinator and we just hired a good DC. Our offense will improve also because we’ll have a better quaterback.
“I dont have cable and saw on gamecast that OSU punted from the 2 to the 23, I assumed Alabama would score. what happened?”
Next play Sims threw an INT.
ESPN.
Cardale is a very good quarterback but it’s hard to believe he’s 3rd string and this was his 2nd start. Truly amazing. I hope for Ohio State’s sake he plays as good against Oregon as he did tonight. The Ducks are going to be a hand full but with the Buckeyes determination and grit they may just pull it off. Good luck.
TCU would have demolished Bama.
Demolished.
Yeah, baby. Go Buckeyes!
Quack! Quack!
It was a good game but I didn’t enjoy the ending so well but that’s life. I’m a Bama fan but I accepted the fact that this wasn’t going to be a banner year for the Tide after some of the close calls earlier in the season. I’ve seen a lot of Alabama teams in my life and I just couldn’t understand all the hype about this years team. Most true Alabama followers were skeptical that they would win a national championship even though Blake Sims and Amari Cooper played great all year there was still the question of a poor pass defense. They just can’t stop the pass.
Dawgs fan here
I noticed the same thing. The sec didn’t have a dominate team emerge this year like years past.
Down year for the sec but still the most dominate in college football. Ohiostate was 0-9 in bowl games against the sec before tonight. Some of those losses they got embarrassed to. They never could play at the level of the elite sec teams. So they went out and hired an sec coach to help with that.
