The Ducks and Buckeyes will meet for the trophy in Arlington, Texas.
On Monday, Jan. 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET, the No. 2 Oregon Ducks and No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes will be in Cowboys Stadium to play in the first-ever College Football Playoff final. The Ducks clinched their spot by embarrassing defending champion Florida State in the Rose Bowl, 59-20, while OSU upset No. 1 Alabama, 42-35, in New Orleans.
This will be Oregon's second appearance in an officially ordained national championship game. The Ducks' first came in the 2010 season's BCS Championship, when they lost, 22-19, to Cam Newton's Auburn in Arizona.
Ohio State made three BCS Championships, winning 2002's against Miami and losing 2006's and 2007's to Florida and LSU, respectively.
According to odds released before the Playoff began, Oregon would be a 6.5-point favorite against Ohio State. We'll wait to see the actual spread after Vegas gets another look at things. You gotta think both teams just moved the needle a little bit.

Right now I would. That was horrible play calling and clock management. I am just glad we won’t have to watch Oregon humiliate them.
Quack attack beeeeeeeyyyyyyyoaches!!!!!!
I can hardly believe it, a national championship game between 2 teams from North of the Mason-Dixon line!!!! What!!
QUACK!
I told my wife today after Oregon totally demolished FSU that I dreaded to see Alabama play the Ducks. Mariota would have had 700 yards passing against Alabama’s poor pass defense. I’m 67 years old and I could complete 7 out of 10 passes against that bunch. I was almost pulling for Ohio State near the end of the game because of the sickening bad play calling from Alabama. Go Buckeyes
How so with the Big XII? TCU looked good but OU, UT, WVU and Baylor were all losers. Even if OSU and KSU win, the record will be 3-4 in the postseason.
Don’t take anything away from Alabama - they played a good game - Ohio State had 3 picks which hurt them. They also backed us up inside the 5 several times after a kick off - their defense was good too, but apparently, not good enough. Ezekiel Elliott had over 200 yards against them. I am proud of my Buckeyes and hope they surprise the Duck fans too!
I am so torn................. Can they both lose?
I don’t have cable and saw on gamecast that OSU punted from the 2 to the 23, I assumed Alabama would score. what happened?
If it wasn’t for the playoff it would have been bama and FSU again. That SEC hype used to really help ensure they always got a spot at the title. But this playoff shows where the real teams are. Remember sec fans saying they should have two teams in the play offs. Now we know why.
Interception!
thanks
Baylor lost to a big 10 team.
Yes they did but that certainly doesn't further your point that the Big XII is among the elite conferences.
Point is SEC sucks. Big 12 should have been there not bama
Yes, under the BCS computers I’m sure it would have been #1 FLORIDA STATE (worst undefeated maj conference team ever?) versus #2 Bama. Praise the football gods for the playoff!
I presume you mean TCU? Anyway, a bad post-season for the SEC. Aside from Georgia, the only SEC winners are those that came to the conference relatively recently in its long history: South Carolina, Arkansas, A&M and Missouri.
Agree q clonton. SEC top 25 teams went 2 and 5 in the bowl games. They weren’t overrated or anything.
Maybe Bama lost the sugar bowl again bc they weren’t playing for a national championship and didn’t really care about the game. That was Saban’s excuse last year.
Sec can only beat teams ranked well below them in the bowl games. Ever notice how they usually are several ranks higher than the other team? And still they lose or win but its close.
however, since I'm in pac 12 country, I hope the Pac 12 wins....
