The Ducks and Buckeyes will meet for the trophy in Arlington, Texas.
On Monday, Jan. 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET, the No. 2 Oregon Ducks and No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes will be in Cowboys Stadium to play in the first-ever College Football Playoff final. The Ducks clinched their spot by embarrassing defending champion Florida State in the Rose Bowl, 59-20, while OSU upset No. 1 Alabama, 42-35, in New Orleans.
This will be Oregon's second appearance in an officially ordained national championship game. The Ducks' first came in the 2010 season's BCS Championship, when they lost, 22-19, to Cam Newton's Auburn in Arizona.
Ohio State made three BCS Championships, winning 2002's against Miami and losing 2006's and 2007's to Florida and LSU, respectively.
According to odds released before the Playoff began, Oregon would be a 6.5-point favorite against Ohio State. We'll wait to see the actual spread after Vegas gets another look at things. You gotta think both teams just moved the needle a little bit.

All other college football conferences (Division I AA, Division II and Division III) have playoffs.
It’s ONLY division I A that does not in ALL SPORTS period. Every other sport, including football at all levels, have a playoff system.
The existing bowls can be used as the playoff system. Which I think is a win win since it will bring a lot more interest in bowls that normally do not get much attention.
The SEC has taken a beating during this college football bowl season.
I agree. Furthermore, the FSU program has lacked class and character since “St.” Bowden’s time. I appreciate hard-nosed smash mouth football, but I’ve never had much respect for Bowden nor his assistant coaches. He may be a good person in the community, I wouldn’t know, but I’ve never enjoyed his sideline demeanor.
I went to bed early. I figured Bama had it in the bag. The Bucks usually pull defeat from the jaws of victory.
Ahem.
I-O!!!
Well, I hope, for the memory of the player that died around Thanksgiving, that the Bucks win.
Jameis Winston held on to crab legs better than that football in the Rose Bowl.

Thanks for the good sportsmanship. Can’t take anything away from Alabama, with their tradition and effort. Year after year they seem to put themselves in a position to win it all. That we can beat them once in a while is a rare treat.
I agree on TCU, but it was FSU that was the over-rated inclusion to the final 4, not Ohio St. And after seeing Oregon play, I don’t think TCU would have beat them.
Although I’m a big fan of the Sagarin ratings and TCU is now #1 in the Sagarins.
Cardale was very impressive and after watching the game I was sorry that Oregon wouldn’t be playing Bama...a much weaker team than Ohio or Oregon. I think Oregon would have pounded Bama...not so sure about Ohio??
Should be a good game.
Viewers that don’t have access to Cable and depend upon
broadcast TV and their antenna don’t get to watch football
any more.
Agree. If you’re a football and auto racing fan,
gotta have ESPN channels, FoxSports and NBCSN.
Kosta Karageorge.
Ducks beat Washington this year for the 11th straight time. Marcus Mariota was awarded the Heisman on 12-13-14 LOL!
Doesn’t bode well for the fuskies.
Or ask Army
not deep? They beat 3 SEC teams in playoffs.
That’s football. They never play each other 7 times in the same season. Pro, highschool, college, peewee, or at any level.
The problem is that in football, injuries are a much bigger factor than the other sports. So if one or two key players get hurt, it totally changes the complexion.
And there definitely could a lot of trying to intentionally hurt opposing players to try to gain an advantage, if football did series like the other sports.
yeah right. The Big12 doesn’t have a championship game so it cost them. That same thing has hurt OSU in the past so they added a one game championship at the end of the season. Big12 needs to add that. Hell if you put TCU in then Baylor would complain that they were co-champs and deserve to be there too. Get a championship game in the Big12 then they have the right to complain.
But it’s not big name schools that really drive selection...it’s money. Face it Bama and OSU have huge fan bases if they make it to the tourney it means more revenue for college football and more viewers on TV. I say Bama didn’t deserve to be there at all...they were in the overrated/hyped SEC who only play other crappy SEC teams and say they had a tough schedule. Bama should have been ranked about #5 and TCU should have been up there. But TCU doesn’t have the fanbase Bama does so Bama gets the hype/nod.
