True. But he changed his name.

Why did he take his mother's last name? Because he hated his father.

Trying to tie de Blazio to his father, who he hated, is a non-starter.

The differences between national socialists and soviet socialists are very small. Asking whether you like Hitler, Obama, Stalin, DeBlasio, Hugo Chavez, or Fidel Castro is like asking what kind of sprinkles you want on your ice cream - the differences are mostly cosmetic.

Warren Wilhelm was silly college student in 1939 as any fool can see from the description, “Wilhelm Heads Laborites”. Since The future Lord Mayor of New York City was born in 1961
I doubt that Warren Wilhelm Sr. was even having carnal thoughts about Lil Billy's mother.
Is this any different from Joe Kennedy actually supporting the NAZI movement in the 1930s?
Or Barack Obama actually appeasing the Castro brothers and other tyrants?
Hell, I am more interested in the fact that the first Cherokee who will be running for President has not been asked about her Great, great, great great great, great, great grandfather's ownership of slaves.

Then, like magic, they all turned on a dime

That is part of what makes the intellectual history of that era so interesting. The Soviet Union was the lodestar of the left, and to remain in good standings in communist/fellow traveler circles, good leftists had to be willing to spin like turds in a toilet bowl. The endless intellectual dishonesty drove many of the best out of the party, and their migration is a fascinating story. Some became members of the anti-communist left; several notables became celebrated neoconservatives; and some made it all the way to the right. Those of us who grew up with National Review will recall that, in the early days, NR was largely a vehicle for Bill Buckley and a cadre of ex-communist friends.

Who cares?

In America, we don't hold people responsible for the sins of their fathers. Bill DeBlasio has plenty of his own failures to answer for.

He changed his name. My take is DeBlasio did it out of pure politics in order to be identified as italian

This is stupid....

The left uses this same tactic of “association” to tie conservatives with all manner of malfeasance...

We should lower ourselves to their level...

De Basilio father has nothing to do with what his worthless commie son mayor is doing....

The Mayor of NY has plenty of malfeasance of his own to nail him with...

You can bet your booties that he changed his name because of this background info.

"In America, we don't hold people responsible for the sins of their fathers."

EXCEPT if they lived in a state where there were once slaves or your ancestors were white.

The Herr Wilhelm enlisted four months after Pearl Harbor and was awarded a Silver Star and a Purple Heart. As far as I’m concerned, that washes out whatever stupidities he uttered while he was in college.

OTOH, maybe the enlistment, Silver Star and Purple Heart are the reasons why Hizzoner hates his father. Which would of course explain a lot.

Like you, I think this is a useless line of inquiry.

There are plenty of reasons to detest DeBlasio without having to go back to something his old man said in 1938.

His horrendous liberal views and actions stand on their own.

“Would it have mattered?”
Apparently not. Obama was elected twice. Gruber was right.

Let’s not forget old Joe Kennedy, the patriarch of the Kennedy clan. He wanted to join forces with Adolph. Ever wonder why they’re called RATS?

Thanks. How do you like the meeting that idiot had with the police union reps the other day? All they wanted was to smooth things over with him, get him to stop calling the cops racist and stop encouraging thugs to attack and shoot cops and he REFUSED!!! They came out of the meeting saying they couldn’t resolve ANYTHING with him, that just utterly utterly blows my mind and should scare every last person in NYC because God knows what else this sick bastard supports. Freakin’ idiots picked the absolute worst kind of person for Mayor and they were warned repeatedly what kind of slimebag he was.
