Alice Cooper, the shock-rock megastar who makes Marilyn Manson look like a choir boy, stopped his hard-partying ways and returned to his Bible Christian roots in the late 1980s and today, still hugely popular and touring, says he isnt shy about discussing his faith, says his early songs always warned against choosing evil, and contends that the world we live in doesnt belong to us, it belongs to Satan.
The world doesnt belong to us, it belongs to Satan, said Alice Cooper. Were living with that. Were bombarded with that every day.
[A]lmost everything I wrote was good and evil, he said. Dont pick evil. Even when I wasnt Christian, I was saying that. God and the Devil. Dont pick the Devil. Its a bad idea.
Alice Cooper (born Vincent Damon Furnier) shot to mega-stardom in the 1970s and early 1980s with hits such as Im 18, Schools Out and the 1973 album, Billion Dollar Babies. He also was notorious for his demonic makeup and costumes and macabre theatrics on stage, which included simulated suicide and the decapitation of baby-dolls, among other dark antics.
Alice Cooper was nominated for two Grammy Awards and he and his band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. He has played roles in several movies, including Waynes World with Mike Myers and Dana Carvey and, perhaps most ironically given his shock-rock music career, Cooper is an avid and skilled golfer.
Cooper scored a two-over par 74 on The Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., a world-class course; he played in the All Star Cup in Newport, South Wales; he has appeared in commercials for Callaway Golf equipment; and he is the author of Alice Cooper, Golf Monster.

As I said, read Job. And yes,the idea of God vs. Satan is unbiblical (you will not find this in the Hebrew Scriptures,BTW.) Now whose bible came first? The Jews’ Scripture came at least 2,000 years before the “New” Testament.
The notion of God vs.Satan is indeed of Pagan origin. You will not find this in the Torah or the Writings of the Prophets. These books came FIRST.
And the tortoises and the goats?
;D
Best wishes for a great year for you, too.
The fact that we humans are supposed to be evil. I don’t believe in such an absurd thing.
Best moment in a concert, ever:
He was atop a huge staircase, singing “Vengeance Is Mine” and when he finished, the music suddenly stopped, he pointed at us all, suspended in that weird silence and then bellowed “REPENT!!!”.
He gets his digs in for God, a lot.
Do you still have the paper panties that came with the album?
Vaudeville vs. freak show.
They toured together a couple years back and Alice never stopped tormenting Manson.
Their grudge started when Manson mouthed off about Alice and Alice’s reply was “Oh, you have a girl’s name and wear makeup. Why didn’t I think of that?”
Manson was livid.
And then Alice stole his thunder when Manson was singing “Sweet Dreams” on stage in Europe by swaggering in, unannounced and taking over the song, to insane applause.
It is to laugh.
Partly due to his concern for the snakes’ health and partly due to the stupid Lacey Act, he no longer tours with a personal snake.
They have to find him a local one for every gig, now.
Which is how/why this happened.

Brutal Plant and Dragontown are both heavily religious.
I don’t think so. I had to do a search to find out what you meant. I probably bought the album in the late 70’s or early 80’s - not when it was newly released.
Rollins is a noted snake keeper.
Hots, too.
The world belongs to God.
The war was won at Calvary.
All that is left is some insurgency by Satan.

Also, Alice Cooper may have made the first true rock music video in 1972-
I loved early Journey. But putting them on par with LZ is downright ridiculous. The tandem of Page/Bonham alone is tough to top.
In exacting musicianship, they are close. But if musicianship alone were the factor, ELP would be considered the greatest band of all time. Which they are not.
Good points, but if you take that precept further, there are just so many ways you can crank out a blues riff. Hell, even the early blues legends were ripping each other off if that was the theme.
Understand LP's with the original bill are worth a premium.
On par? Nope, I put them above Zep, who ran out of ideas pretty quickly but still rode their hype even towards the 80s. “Dazed And Confused” is verbatim Jake Holmes’ song; “Whole Lotta Love” is verbatim Howlin’ Wolf’s “You Need Love”; “The Lemon Song” is Howlin’ Wolf’s “Killin’ Floor”, which Hendrix covered; “In My Time Of Dying” is a traditional one, but they falsely took credit for it (Bob Dylan and lots of others did versions of it).
Didn’t know this was suddenly about “the greatest band of all time”, besides, which is a title that no band can claim. If we were to talk number-one albums in a row, then even AC/DC has been in the running of late.
“Didnt know this was suddenly about the greatest band of all time...”
I know! I thought this thread was about who rules the earth - God or Satan?
I love Free Republic!
I wonder if their is a college somewhere that offers a course called “Alic Cooper and the Bible”? (I imagine there must be one somewhere on The Beetles and Spirituality).
And arguably (and I am a musician), can state that ELP collectively are the greatest musicians in the history of rock, but that does not translate to aesthetically to the product.
