Foreign high-tech workers are taking American jobs and making Silicon Valley's diversity problem worse, Rev. Jesse Jackson said in a Fortune interview.
"There are Americans who can do that work, and H1B workers are cheaper and undercut wages," Jackson said, referring to the class of visas most often used by tech workers.

He doesn't care. There's nothing in it for him. He's going after Tech's deep pockets.
I’ve been in the business for 25 years and know a lot of people in the field. There are plenty of people unemployed who are more than qualified, we don’t need the foreign labor. It’s bad out there, the only work you come across is short term contract work. I think the Almighty every day that I’m not one of them looking for a job
Nope.
The qualified workers are coming from other countries.
We do not have enough trained Americans to do the jobs.
Pound sand Jesse...
How many of those friends are black?
Jesse is “so technical” ... he couldn’t begin to understand the problem. For the tech workers, it is not about salaries undercutting American workers ... they are paid a PREMIUM for their intelligence, more than average American workers ... and why? ... now there’s a problem to work on, Jesse. It’s an IQ problem, not a welfare problem.
Wow. How did this blind hog stumble onto the acorn?
Dont we have some furriners who can do JJs job for less?
............................................................
Got any black face make up?
(I’m assuming you’re of the Caucasian persuasion)
Very few American blacks are qualified for high tech jobs. I worked for 30 years in a world class industrial research lab with ~ 1500 Ph.Ds and another 1500 or so Masters level scientists. The number of black researchers I saw there over the years was less than a dozen, and some of them had been adopted by white parents or they came from foreign countries. There were plenty of Chinese and Indian nationals however.
Jesse Jackson just found a new gold mine!
Too bad the GOP elites didn’t see it first.
I prefer neither.
Was hoping to hit 40,000 replies by the end of 2014, looks like I won’t make it though, I stand at 39,895 replies.
mmmm perhaps if I double post a few times.

You don't personally know anyone who looked for an engineering job for more than a year?
No one?
Broken clock, twice a day, etc. etc...
...
He also warned us about staying out of the Bushes.
“There are Americans who can do that work...”
No there aren’t and blacks qualified and trained for such work are rarer than hen’s teeth.
I have to totally disagree. I know plenty of foreign tech workers who produce crap work. There are a lot of Americans who can do this work. We invented the entire industry from hardware to software and it ticks me off to hear people say that Americans can’t do it. I call bull$hit.
Nah, you’re only reacting to the part that cnbc excerpted. I doubt that you GAS what the demographics of a company are and I would be surprised to hear that you were interested in “putting pressure on the system to open up”. If you’re like me you worked hard to learn skills in order to earn dollars. If you’re an employer you want skilled workers who show up and do their job.
These are all points of departure from what the Just Us Brother wants. As a notorious race-baiter he’s looking for more free rides for his peeps - not any improvements to the way we do business.
I would love to see the H1B program retired but the sad fact is that all too often it serves a practical purpose - providing business with skilled labor (yes, I recognize that a lot of the time we’re actually getting inferior workers but at a bargain rate).
I was wondering where Jesse has been lately.... Sharpton has been carrying the water. Seems Jesse is coming out with some harsh realizations of his own here.
But Jackson is also complaining that the janitors and lawyers are non-black as well.
