MIAMI (AP) Five men who were held for a dozen years without charge at the U.S. Navy base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, have been sent to the Central Asian nation of Kazakhstan for resettlement, the U.S. government announced.
The two men from Tunisia and three from Yemen had been cleared for release from the prison by a government task force but could not be sent to their homelands. The U.S. has sent hundreds of prisoners from Guantanamo to third countries but this is the first time Kazakhstan has accepted any for resettlement.

Since taking office this bastard has done nothing but piss on the graves of those who died in every war since 9/11.
I know what message this sends to our troops. Don’t take them alive.
5 more counts of treason. . . .
There is isn’t thing this idiot does that benefits the United States or it’s allies.
More death and destruction to come.
Barack Hussein Obama’s jobs program, providing terrorists.
Well .. I have a slightly different take: Perhaps the AQ who have already been released do not want to sacrifice themselves on Obama’s altar in the USA. Therefore, Obama keeps releasing more and more, in the hopes some of them will take him up on his offer.
Sound too far fetched ..?? That’s what happens when you read Vince Flynn and Brad Thor: You get your thinking of possibilities heightened.
And .. I don’t think anything this admin does would ever surprise me.
The thing about this for me is that these guys were held for 5 years with no charges being filed.
Is that even legal?
That oughta cool their jets a little.
They had ties to Al-Qaeda. Isn't that a charge?
Obama sent these 5 to ISIS and the Islamic Jihad just as sure as the sun rises tomorrow.
They were on the battlefield when caught. War time rules apply, don't need any charges.
But that they were released before the ending of hostilities is the real issue here.
No charges are required. They are prisoners of war. They have no constitutional rights. That’s why they’ve been kept off of US soil.
Unfortunately Obama is doing nothing illegawith this. They are not U.S. citizens and committed no crime in the states so our law does not apply. In reality this is war and they should be treated as prisoners of war. But that would take a declaration of war first which we never do anymore. We kept Nazis in jail for life or executed them. We should have done the same with these scum. However bush was too cozy with the saudies. I blame this all on him for not doing the right constitutional thing after 911. Bush should speak out loudly if he has issues with release but he apparently doesn’t.
Obama, enemy combatant.
Apparently the headline writer thinks some Gitmo detainees have ties to the Rotary Club...
