POPE: UN MUST FIGHT 'GLOBAL WARMING'

He has been called the “superman pope”, and it would be hard to deny that Pope Francis has had a good December. Cited by President Barack Obama as a key player in the thawing relations between the US and Cuba, the Argentinian pontiff followed that by lecturing his cardinals on the need to clean up Vatican politics. But can Francis achieve a feat that has so far eluded secular powers and inspire decisive action on climate change?

It looks as if he will give it a go. In 2015, the pope will issue a lengthy message on the subject to the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics, give an address to the UN general assembly and call a summit of the world’s main religions.

The reason for such frenetic activity, says Bishop Marcelo Sorondo, chancellor of the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences, is the pope’s wish to directly influence next year’s crucial UN climate meeting in Paris, when countries will try to conclude 20 years of fraught negotiations with a universal commitment to reduce emissions.

“Our academics supported the pope’s initiative to influence next year’s crucial decisions,” Sorondo told Cafod, the Catholic development agency, at a meeting in London. “The idea is to convene a meeting with leaders of the main religions to make all people aware of the state of our climate and the tragedy of social exclusion.”

Following a visit in March to Tacloban, the Philippine city devastated in 2012 by typhoon Haiyan, the pope will publish a rare encyclical on climate change and human ecology. Urging all Catholics to take action on moral and scientific grounds, the document will be sent to the world’s 5,000 Catholic bishops and 400,000 priests, who will distribute it to parishioners.

I love bringing those questions up to liberals. Their answer is always some emotional nonsense or a logical fallacy.

He has said enough to me lately that indicates he follows the social justice mission of the Church typical to Latin America.

Bon mots:"This pope is clearly an imbecile.
I’m a Catholic, can I say that?

I think that you just did say that, and yes you can say that.
However, you forgot the key word :
This Pope is clearly a Socialist Imbicile .

He's turning into a menace. The Jesuit profile is to help the poor, not the climate.

And yes, God gave you free will to do and say what you will.......does that always mean man makes the right choice? Clearly not, but the Pope is mortal and flawed like the rest of us.

And it's showing...........

I think you should start to think critically of every doctrine attached to popery. You might reach a critical mass at which point Catholicism no longer matches your worldview.

It was actually a lefty Catholic organization (CAFOD) in England that announced all this, not the Pope.

However, he himself said shortly after he was elected that he does plan to write an encyclical on “global warming,” and I believe he is aiming at some kind of world government/religious coalition to promote it, since he’s got a whole schedule of such meetings next year.

I think we are entering a very strange time. If you’re Catholic, stay so, because you’re going to have to fight for the faith. There have been three times when popes have been removed or replaced by “extraordinary councils.” Extraodinary means that usually the Pope is the head of the council, but in this case, they are meeting without their head, either because he is in heresy or because there is more than one Pope because of irregularities.

The first time was when Pope Marcellinus offered grains of incense to the emperor in the 4th century; he was deposed but actually resigned first, repented publicly, and was reappointed...he died a martyr only a few years later, and he was so repentant that he imposed excommunication on anyone who wanted to bury him. It was decades later before another Pope released this and he was buried.

The other occasions were to resolve situations where there were multiple popes.

This time, I don’t know what will trigger it, but if Francis keeps on this way, it will happen again.

The media is building him up so very high. I can only speculate how it will go when he makes a string of less popular decisions and does not back away from it. If that ever happens.

Francis the Talking Mule has more integrity and common sense than this progressive poser Pope.

Now we know why Benedict was squired away not to be heard from.

Well, here is your head banana speaking, perhaps, ex cathedra on how the liberals are all correct. This, right behind his admonition to open borders and be compassionate to the invading army of illegals. Spend your time getting your own house in order before peddling the false doctrines of the papist cult...please.

Good grief, talk about complete and utter ignorance.

Really, you are in total and complete denial. Come down to reality.

And btw, how can somebody prove to you that water is Wet?

Don’t quit, the Pope is, after allo, a reasonable and reasoning man, also one that may at time to time be gently reminded of his mission on Earth - be the viceroy of Christ.

Man proposes, God disposes. Only those who have no faith in the greater good of the Universe as created by God can have any even brief flirtation that it is within the means of mankind to control the widespread patterns of weather that lead to either warming or cooling of the earth.

The planet Earth has a most homeostatic system of maintaining life here on earth, in which the temperature of the atmosphere and the hydrosphere are regulated within a relatively very narrow band, and that system is almost entirely dependent on the cycle of water being the medium through which planetary temperatures are regulated.

And the whole system was “intelligent design”, to which human beings are well adapted.

Plus...

8. Describe, in detail, the technologies available to mankind to control 1-6.

9. Describe, in detail, the interactions of all the atmospheric, terrestrial, geologic, and biological systems that contribute to 1-6. Include your plan for getting through the transient period from today to your ideal 1-6.

10. Describe, in detail, contingency plans, what could go wrong and how to mitigate them if we were so foolish as to try.

11. Justify how this attempt to “manage” nature on a global scale will be different than any of mankind’s other initial attempts to “manage” nature on much smaller scales - which haven’t worked out so well.

12. List the species of flora and fauna that will be stressed/lost by transitioning to the ideal 1-6.

13. Explain how holding climate in an artificial stasis would be a good thing when nature seems to abhor stagnation.

14. Characterize the annual costs in terms of money, energy, and resources to maintain this climatic utopia. Justify why this is a better use of these resources than say, finding a cure for cancer, or other diseases, space exploration, etc. (recognizing that our time on this rock is finite)

In other words Pope, stop spewing feel-good agenda-driven drivel and get real, show some leadership instead of following the crowd.
