Since taking office in 2009, Obama has only vetoed legislation twice, both in fairly minor circumstances. But with Republicans set to take full control of Congress next year, Obama is losing his last bulwark against a barrage of bills he doesn't like: the Senate.
"I haven't used the veto pen very often since I've been in office," Obama said in an NPR interview airing Monday. "Now, I suspect, there are going to be some times where I've got to pull that pen out."
He added: "I'm going to defend gains that we've made in health care. I'm going to defend gains that we've made on environment and clean air and clean water."

You’re right. Harry Reid was vetoing everything for the president. Now we’ll finally see the president exposed for the far left, ideologue he really is. The man has absolutely no idea how to do anything beyond community organizing, and I’m not even sure he’s good at that. This is the most dysfunction government in my lifetime, and President Obama is at the center of it.

The president can veto any changes in existing legislation, including funding cuts. If the president is serious about holding the line—and I believe he is—the only recourse is to shut down the government, but the Republicans have already stated they absolutely refuse to do that. So what’s left? Well, they can stop the president from nominating people, but then again, Harry Reid already helped push through a slew of far left, appointees.
I think the moderate Republicans deserve as much grief as we can dish on them, because they just don’t realize what they’re dealing with. We want them to wage war on the president and his far left, political agenda. They foolishly think they can compromise, but what are they going to do when the president simply refuses to give—at all?
With Boehner and McConnell at the helms of their respective ships, I suspect the Sultan will not feel called upon to veto much.
Okay. Let us see if the Republicans can remind everyone Obama is vetoing THINGS THEY WANT.
Good, Obama’s admitting that the GOP-run Congress has forced him to act Constitutionally. This is where conservative populism will work most effectively. They should give him the opportunity to veto popular conservative legislation every week, over and over again for the next two years.

Simple solution - don’t send him anything to veto, not even “must pass” legislation. Reid never voted a budget out of the Senate, so it’s nothing new.
Sure, and you haven't had to since Harry Reid never let anything come up for a vote in the senate that you didn't like.
