Paige Stalker might be alive today had she learned about Routine Activity Theory.
But she is dead and two of her friends are critically wounded, the latest poster children for R.A.T.: White people in black neighborhoods should expect to be the victims of racial violence.
Paige was one of five teenagers from an upscale neighborhood in nearby Grosse Point who were on their way to the movies three days before Christmas when they decided to pull over and smoke marijuana in Detroit.
While they were getting a high, a black man with a high-powered rifle approached their car and fired 30 rounds into it, killing Paige.
Paige and her friends learned the hard way what in 2012 became well known in a Chicago courtroom. The case revolved around a white woman who was released from jail into a black neighborhood. Hours later, she was thrown out of the seventh-story window of a local housing project.
Her parents sued the city of Chicago, saying the city should have known their white daughter would be a victim of violence in that black neighborhood.
That was the testimony of Harvard sociology professor Robert Sampson and what the judge said when he described R.A.T. The woman “was a white female in a predominantly black, poor neighborhood (and) she had a much higher risk of predatory victimization.”
The judge said the situation was so transparently dangerous (link corrected) that Chicago police “might as well have released her into the lions’ den at the Brookfield Zoo.”
The city’s lawyers claimed the professor was guilty of racial profiling and demanded the judge throw out his testimony. Judge Frank Easterbrook scorned that argument and approved a judgment against the city for $22.5 million.

If we were looking for a better example I would go with Steve Utash. At least he wasn’t hanging out in the hood in the middle of the night looking for drugs.
Utash was passing through on his way to work and stopped to render aid to a child.
Two different cases. One happened in Detroit and the other in Chicago some years back
Gross Ile is an island in the Detroit river where some affluent folks live. There are two bridges to access the island and both lead straight into injun country. Can’t avoid those bad parts.
Three things that Paige did foolishly:
Decide to do drugs
Decide to go to Detroit to do drugs
Go to Detroit at night
Go where there would be a drug dealer
Releasing whites into black neighborhoods has been a problem before, and has resulted in deaths before.
Utash was driving the truck which hit the kid he was rendering assistance to. A retired, black, nurse with a pistol in her hand saved him.
Well, according to some upwardly mobile, critically thinking college students... we as privileged white people should expect and accept this.

The neighborhood is exactly the same a any white rural neighborhood... it should not be judged.

Nice thing about conservatives standing up to black criminals and thugs is we’re protecting honest black people stuck in ‘no snitch’ hellholes. Hellholes created by white liberal elites and run by black gangbangers and thugs.
Because you’re right - honest hard working black families are prisoners and victims in those ‘communities’ of oughest thugs wins - the law of the jungle..

Actually directly ashore from Grosse Isle isn’t too bad. Its mostly suburban and industrial. Turn south after crossing the southern bridge and you’re in the country after a few miles. However if you cross the northern bridge and turn north you run immediately into Wyandott which is a mixed bag.
so can the rules be reversed? a black man in a rural area gets to be shot/killed just because?

My little town has one black family and they’re nervous about going into town because the idiots have made the police edgy about blacks. Around here they don’t have to worry.
What about what the cops did to her before they 'released' her from jail ?

I guarantee that a cop would have profiled the rich white girl in a bad neighborhood and told her to go home. I’ve been checked out for being out of place before.
