If GOP establishment picks Jeb Bush for 2016, conservatives should bolt for another party

Some conservative political analysts have opined that former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush announced recently that he was further exploring his options to run for the GOP presidential nomination as a means of pre-empting all other potential GOP candidates. Many of the same analysts say there was an additional, not-so-subtle message, and it was aimed primarily at conservatives: ‘Don’t bother running; the monied GOP interests (i.e. the donor class) have spoken and Jeb Bush is who they want.’

Over the Christmas holidays I have had a number of people ask my opinion about Bush, and what I have told them, essentially, is this: Jeb Bush, like all the Bushes, is an inherently decent man. He has been a governor of a mostly red (but sometimes purple) state. He shares lineage with a storied political family. But if the goal is to restore some semblance of constitutional government to our republic, Jeb Bush is the wrong candidate, for he – like his father and brother before him – is no conservative.

If he is nominated, I won’t bother to vote.

I don’t see much difference between Jeb and his Democratic opponent.

To do that, someone with a lot of bucks will have to finance a 50 state ballot run, to be used seriously only if Bush or Romney get the nomination—sort of a “break glass in case of fire” scenario. The emergency candidate could be someone like Sarah Palin, as it cannot be someone who ran in the primaries.

Jeb is wrong on Common Core. Would he actually keep trumpeting it when 60% of the people on’t want it?

The MSM and Establishment Democrats want Jeb because he will nullify ‘immigration’ as an issue.

Expect tons of Newspaper articles telling us how conservative and smart Jeb is... the push is on...

Don't care what their reasons are. I have seen two different Bush's undermine conservatives during their administrations and if we are going to overturn our existing system then we might as well vote for a Liberal and do it faster.

If Jeb's the nominee, I advise everyone to send him down in flames by voting for the Liberal Democrat. It is the only means by which we *might* teach the establishment a lesson.

So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth."

Voters pick.....we need to get our side out. Conservatives always nominate too many candidates. Need to narrow our field.
Plus we need to recognize the facts...Carson will never win...Huckster will never win...Christie will never win....add Paul and other RINOS. We have a chance to win if we stick together.

If the conservatives lack the clout to stop bad Bushing then their defection will have little meaning to anyone. Stopping the Bush Job and winning are the same thing. Too bad nobody figured that out with Papa Bush #41 and the Clintoon. I do wish him a speedy recovery.

Not going to happen.

I’m simply not going to vote for someone who says he doesn’t need conservatives.

Jeb Bush doesn’t want my vote and I won’t be supporting him, period.

People remaining in the GOP now are as much a danger to America as any liberal. They empower evil to continue.

The GOP has become evil. Their support of it is support of evil. Simple math.

Political dynasties are poison to republics- the answer is no. I’ll sit that one out if he is the nominee.

It’s going to need serious money, and a volunteer activist army the likes of which have never been seen in the U.S..

Problem #1) Rich people on the right are going to have to put up a lot of cash that I dont know if they re willing to.

Problem #2) Conservatives will have to saturate the internet and dominate every communication medium (Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Tumblr, billboards, ads in Times Square, constant callers to local radio shows, ect.), and that means getting out of the comfort zone of FR and similar sites and engaging in battle online. We aren’t known for our skills in that realm, and we have far too many people that make excuses for not wanting to.

If we can get this together. We will have a shot. Buzz will equal votes.

The GOP establishment doesn't pick the nominee -- the only reason anyone gets the nomination is that they get the most delegates during the primaries. Don't show up for the primaries? Stop bitching. Do show up, but your candidate loses? Stop bitching. Tinfoiled Again/Paranoid Conspiracy Theories/NTSA/STFU ping (all lists).

Why wait? I’m ready for another party now-—and as a historian, I know how destructive this can be. It temporarily gives the bad guys immense power, but sometimes you have to take a step back before you can take a step forward.

The only way I see Jeb losing is if he splits the primary vote.

Before that the MSM, will seek to clear the decks by taking Ted Cruz out early.
