Last week a small and seemingly innocuous piece in The Times caught my eye. The short panel referred to the fact that Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney's right hand man and the Republican Party nominee for Vice President of the United States, had just spent $100 on camouflage hunting clothes for his daughter, Liza, 10, to go with the rifle he bought her last Christmas.
Aghast with what I had just read I blogged about it, commenting that buying a 10 year old a rifle for Christmas was insane, and anywhere in the world that it wasn't considered to be must be a crazy place.

I generally like him, but I doubt I’d vote for him in the primary.
Plus gift certificates from the local abortion clinic.
When the Librats need ratings they start attacking Guns and conservatives.
LOL. Oh yes of course.
We be a much safer country if every kid in America was given a gun when they reached ten years old.
Oy! Now I have to give him credit for something. I was hoping to make it through another year without having to do so. sigh.....
My 13 year old G/D just got herself a nice 3x4 point buck during the last dear season. 243WIN 90gr Sierra @ close to 300 yds. up hill. Very proud of that one, this makes it two seasons in a row she scored.
I got my 10 year old girl a katana for Christmas and a few weeks back a walther p22.
Probably had to do with the rifling.
Too many twists for the higher powder load.
Just thought of the perfect answer to that question...if you want to drive libtards MORE crazy.
“Why would she need another gun?”
It was made in Spain and only cost $29 but that was around 1984. It eventually stopped extracting long rifle empties but always worked with the shorts so that is the only thing we used in it.
Paul Ryan’s daughter was 10 in 2012. ~That is when she got the rifle.. Now in 2014...
I can't decide if that's a joke or not. Todays liberals will do or think anything that shows they are superior progressive thinkers
I got my first rifle when I was 9 years old. My older step-brother trained me in handling it. I grew up in Missouri. The other kids in my neighborhood also had rifles. We went hunting and fishing on weekends during the winter and nearly everyday during summer vacations. Interesting, no comparison with the young kids today who have no maturity and few responsibilities. When I enlisted in the Marine Corps during the Korean War I was way ahead of others who had never handled a rifle or pistol.

Not often known is Switzerland where all are obligated to serve in the Military and are provided with a military rifle upon completion. Israel is similar- for more obvious reason. If it were inhabited by Liberals- it would have ceased to exist.
well, there’s one thing I can say I like about him
My family generally gave your first .22 at eight. A BB gun was given a couple of years earlier so you would know how to handle your first rifle.
It was part of growing up.
Paul Ryan is STILL an ass though. Illegal lovin traitor to the American Worker!
