Liberals everywhere were outraged this week after Rush Limbaugh said a black man playing James Bond would be ridiculous. The comments were made on Tuesday in regard to leaked Sony emails that revealed that CEO Amy Paschal wanted the black actor Idris Elba to play James Bond. Rush, however, wasnt having any of it. James Bond is a total concept put together by Ian Fleming. He was white and Scottish. Period. That is who James Bond is, was, the conservative radio show host said. But now [they are] suggesting that the next James Bond should be Idris Elba, a black Briton, rather than a white from Scotland. Thats not who James Bond is and I know its racist to probably point this out, he added. Liberals everywhere are outraged by these racist remarks, but what do you think about it? Sound off in the comments below!

Completely agree. Idris will make an awsome Bond.
OK then, what say you to a black Huckleberry Finn?
Or a white Fat Albert?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Artistically I would have no problem. A black Huck Finn might actually be interesting.
Just don’t ask me to bankroll the film. But I’d love to see someone try.
You do know that bond is a fictional character and mlk was a real person within recent memory.
If you want to bankroll a movie with a white actor playing mok go for it.
How about Meryl Streep?
an outraged liberal is a happy liberal.
Then you could have white slaves in a movie. You might confuse some people so you’d have to provide some historical context, but if it served to educate a few people, then all the better.
That’s a touugh crowd that boos an opera.
Britain would consider that as a declaration of war.
*sigh*..... Fictional character vs. real historical figure. You know the difference, right?
Is that the kind of spy that I want to love me? I’d rather James Bond be a hot, bi-curious chick always looking to score on both sides of the aisle!
LOL!
You make a very good point, and that was something I considered. It it quite possible that Rush was just tossing a figurative bomb towards the libs, to (as you said) rile things up a bit.
But Rush needs to be circumspect with that. He (along with Palin and a few others) represents modern conservatism. And yes, PR matters.
The fictional Bond character was from Scotland. Liberals are outraged that Limbaugh complained when they wanted to hijack this character and “vividly re-imagine” him as someone else.
If this was only about the race of an actor, then this would be much to do about nothing. But sadly it is not, for liberals now use race as a proxy for ideology. No matter how sexually libertine Bond was, he was above all a guardian of the establishment’s sovereign power. He murdered others in the service of that sovereign. Bond embodies “white privilege.” Thus his character must be usurped to the service of those classes victimized by whites, the so-called “people of color”. How to better do this than cast Bond as such a person?
In the clever recasting of liberals, people who are “of color” are part of the ideological red collective. People who are “white” are a proxy for people who hold conservative values, which are in themselves vestiges of the values of people who hold godly values as seen in the Ten Commandments.
If this were not true, then how is it possible for Nobel Prize winning poet Tony Morrison to write an October 1988 New Yorker article titled “Clinton as the first black president” where Clinton was “Blacker than any actual black person who could ever be elected in our children’s lifetime.”
Similarly, how is it possible for Time magazine’s Jack White to call Supreme Court Justice Thomas, “the scariest of all the hobgoblins”, saying “Washington seems to be filled with white men who make black people uneasy”?
I could give many others. Just recall the media reaction to conservative blacks like Herman Cain, Michael Steele or former Congressman Alan West. In the subversive liberal recasting of race as a proxy for ideology, conservatives who happen to be black are not possibly be “black”.
This is the state of liberal attempts to define and occupy the moral high ground in society. Things they oppose must be destroyed, no matter how many layers of lies must be laid down and no matter how vicious the rhetoric must get. We live in dangerous times when basic truths are so malleable and plastic.
Instead of trying to co-opt an established character for PC racial reasons, and thereby alienate legions of fans who will see it for what it is, why not invent a black James Bond-type for his (her?) own character and story.
And by the way, why not have James Bond become Jane Bond, a promiscuous Scottish female as 007. To object to this shift in character would be sexist and we don’t want to be accused of that.
Heck, might as well make Jane Bond. . .Jameeka Jones, a black female. Covering all the PC bases. . .
“No, Rush is right on the money!
This is a deliberate cultural attack, so quit whitewashing it.
The James Bond series is a display of a specific cultural image.”
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I think the Bond film franchise has transcended the Ian Fleming novel character.
James Bond is now a Hollywood creation, and not necessarily now of strict Scottish origin.
I guess that needlepoint is out?
NOT looking forward to Pee Wee Herman (Paul Reubens) playing the next James Bond.
“A group of slaves would obviously be black.”
Barbary Pirates mean anything to you. . .white slavery. . .
Thats not who James Bond is and I know its racist to probably point this out, he added.
I'm hardly "outraged" but James Bond is a fictional character. He could be portrayed as a Hobbit. Rush is out to lunch on this one.
Stringer Bell is a fictional character, too - and I thought Idris Elba did the Baltimore accent much better than Dominic West - another Brit - did. James Bond's accent should be a piece of cake for Elba.
At least Limbaugh didn’t suggest that the orangutan given “human rights” last week in an Argentinian court be cast as Clown Prince nobama. That might have been outrageous. Have a Merry Christmas!
