When Columbia Law School let Black students postpone their final exams because they might be “traumatized” by recent protests, they really let the cat out of the bag.
Now students at Oberlin College, one of the most liberal college in the country are demanding African-American students be completely exempt from failing this semester because they’re so deeply affected in “times like this.”
So far, the Ohio college has said they will allow professors to exercise “flexibility” in “emergency incomplete requests,” but has not given a flat out “pass” to all Black students.
This is making students really whiny. In a poorly written petition to Oberlin President Marvin Krislov – that has more than 1,300 signatures – the students lay out their “demands:”

The government seems to think they (and Hispanics and women) are inferior; it expects much less from them than from white and Asian men.
I refuse to regard someone as my equal when they can be accepted by colleges with a 15 on their SAT...
A good point, and even more damaging than Affirmative Action.

As in, “You are black, so no job. I heard you idiots can get a degree without actually passing.”

If I was black I would be beyond offended.
And if they’re not, what does it say about what they think of themselves.
I interpret this trend as tacit admission that blacks can't compete and feel inferior as a result because they ARE inferior.
What other justification can there be for creating the fiction that they can't compete like everyone else, thus must be given what they can't earn?
Blacks have self identified ... they are inferior in the education arena due to characteristics of the black community, not black brains. They have chosen to be inferior and now want to institutionalize that status! What a bunch of maroons.
Somebody needs to tell them something about real life. At various points in your adult, working life: you might lose one of your children to an illness or accident; your parents are going to die; you will suspect (rightly or wrongly) that your spouse is unfaithful; someone might steal your identity and run up a six-figure debt in your name; your best friend might be killed; the evening news may feature a terrorist attack that will leave you sick to your stomach; etc. And your boss, your customers and the entire world is going to expect you to get over it, go back to work; fly your big jet airliner; drive your tanker truck; weld steel girders sixty stories above the sidewalk; manage investment portfolios for widows and orphans, etc.
If you can't take a fricken exam because the left-stream media lied to you - then you are worthless and you will always be worthless.
I'm sure that the University will capitulate - but the whiny students (black and white) should be failed and expelled. Tough love, ya know?
That sounds to me as circular reasoning and ultimately racist.
The usual criterion for judging whether brains exist is using them for measurable results, not merely intent.
"characteristics of the black community" sure sounds more un-PC, erudite and unverifiable, though.
As long as this means that all businesses are exempt from ever hiring them, because they are clearly not equal to white, asian, and hispanic students who need no special considerations in order to graduate...
it’s b/c you have common sense not b/c you’re racist.
that same common sense would stop you from hiring certain people no matter what color they were.
the black problem is that by their numbers, they have a higher percentage of people that are thuggish and not societally adjusted.
How does anyone get over a ‘racial divide’ like this, if blacks get to skate on education issues and whites do not. Does this foster peace and harmony, if some students get special treatment that others do not? NO, it makes for more division and anger.
I agree, why should anyone have to treat someone equal, who has always insisted they not be treated equal.
There is a vulgar word to describe these people, derived from the very good word pusillanimous.
Viewing a poor grade as merely punishment rather than an actual demonstration of learning or the lack of it has been the reason why black children as a group have fallen behind. Low expectations have led to low-paying jobs or unemployment and idle, resentful young people with entirely too much time on their hands, time that eventually gets filled with destructive behavior. Just handing out good grades like “everybody wins” plastic trophies makes good grades meaningless and another means of qualifying decent, knowledgable people will arise of necessity.
My point in my post was to cite the nature/nurture differential; black kids have been getting a steady dose of bad nurturing which derides self sufficiency and educational achievement thus promoting laziness, versus the stale argument that black brains are not sufficiently developed to succeed in the modern world at more than a thuggish level.
Seems kind of needless in many school districts. Remember the star witness Rachel in the Trayvon Martin trial? Rather obvious she was functionally illiterate yet was apparently to graduate from high school
